Carl's Ice Cream Factory — Restaurant in Bloomington

Unprofessional isn’t even the word. Carls was hired to provide an ice-cream cart for my Nieces 3rd birthday party that was based all around the ice cream theme. It was clarified multiply times the party was from 3-6. We called multiple times day of the party and FINALLY got answer on the 5th call stating that the owner was on his way and HOUR late. Upon arrival he was rude and said he would be back to get the cart at 5. Yet another mess up on their end. Our response was no we rented the cart from 3p-6p and his response was “oh well I had other plans tonight but I guess I’ll be back at 6” tossed the invoice on top of the cart disrespectfully in front of all family and friends. The cones that were ordered were not present, we had to wait another 30/45 mins for the ice cream to soften up a bit for everyone to enjoy. I highly recommend contacting genes or another local ice cream shop for any special or private events as this was not handed with the grace, care and professionalism that it should have. I’ve frequented these ice cream shops on numerous occasions and always received mediocre customer service including cashiers eating at the register while speaking to guests and taking their money. It was just a complete turn off. To the owner this is just a way for him to make some money it doesn’t seem like he truly cares about serving ice cream to kids and families in the community. I ordered a Chicago Hot Dog without onions and relish. I drove five minutes home and the hot dog had onions and relish on it which is a minor mistake until I noticed after one bite that the hot dog was cold as if it had just been taken out of the fridge. I drove back to Carl’s with the hot dog to explain to them the problem. They gave me a new hot (hot) dog without question but it was interesting to hear from the employee that this is a common occurrence to receive complaints about cold hot dogs. I have never had problems with Carl’s in the six years I have been going to this place as I enjoy the friendly atmosphere with good food and ice cream but it is definitely a red flag hearing from an employee about the common occurrence of cold hot dogs which can get people sick after consumption. I will definitely never be getting a hot dog from there again and will strongly consider this restaurant as a whole...

I got there 15 minutes before closing. The large group in front of us took a long time to order, and as you'd expect it took some time to get their orders out. At any point during the 10 minutes I stood two feet from the window waiting for the group's orders to get out the cashier could have said that group would be the last served of the night but instead she waited until she was done making orders. "We're closed. It's way past our end time". It was 5 minutes past. Also as we were patiently waiting the second order window took the people behind us without calling us over. We were also the last people in line. You get two stars only because your soft serve is better than Genes. But the service here steadily gets worse...
