Elegant in it's simplicity. These are classic diner/smash burgers, but so fresh and a staple in Btown. The double is a better ratio than the single, and all burgers come with grilled onions and pickles, so specify if you don't want them. Everything about the ratios are perfect - the patties are thin with lacy, crispy edges, and the bun is slightly pressed and soft. Can't say enough good things. Fries are thicker in style, but still have that crispy exterior (not mushy like you would expect from this crinkle-cut style). Onions rings are fried goodness. They take credit card now, so that's a huge plus!

A Bloomington institution that has remained the same in a good way. The classic food is still there the locals and old timers remember but there are some great new additions to the menu like bacon that serve to enhance the classics. The new owners are awesome shepherds to a legacy restaurant and do a great job honoring tradition but changing enough to keep up with the times. Love the classic old school style smashed style burger with the onions pressed into it with a nice slab of cheese on a steamed bun and served wrapped tight in the classic red and white checked paper... Yum!

This is definitely the kind of place that has regulars, and they've certainly earned it! The menu is fairly inexpensive and the food is great. They are very welcoming to new customers, there's barstools and 2 to 4 person tables. So no matter if you're coming by yourself for a quick lunch, or with a friend or your family, they've pretty well got you covered. They do get a bit busy though since they are well liked! The interior is small, but cozy. The next time I'm in Bloomington I'll definitely be eating here!

Classic, historic burger dinner in downtown Madison on the main drag through town. We visit Madison about twice a year and always stop here to eat. I got the meat loaf lunch special on this trip. Yummy. Be advised that this place is popular during lunchtime, and you may have to wait to be seated. This place has tight seating, but we dont mind it as it fits the old timey diner artmosphere. So please don't bring your screaming kids here or request vegan options.

$25 for 2 people is pretty high for what you get. The meat itself was good and well seasoned. More of a thin style patty. The combo being $4.99 is a huge turn off to me. It is advertised as any side, however fries are so common I felt I paid more than it should be. $2.99 I could probably justify. First were ok, nothing fancy. Service was good but was not a fan of the ladies ball gag face mask. Not really appropriate for a customer environment.

Took eleven coworkers here for lunch. We have never been here before but wanted to visit. Weather was great, so we enjoyed the picnic tables. The Hinkle's team handled the large group without issue and everyone had a good time. While this isn't the place for calorie counting by any means, it is the place for a good burger and fries or one of the many other menu options!! Without a doubt, it is a unique place that deserves a visit!
