We walked in, a party of 7. No greeting. Our server is a teen with no uniform, just a black hoody with broken glasses, clearly unhappy to be there. He mumbles, and is wearing ear pods while he works so we aren’t sure he hears us. The pass is visible so I can see him grabbing chips with his hands, eating a few, and adjusting his ears repeatedly. He auctions off food at every table, I watch him nearly give out our appetizers to the neighboring table, chewing food while he delivers food.
No one uses trays, some of the food we see coming out is balanced on all sorts of body parts. Drinks are balanced with greasy hands. The kids meal quesadilla was supposed to come with beans and rice, instead it came with partially unmelted cheese inside the quesadilla.
The pozole was like luke warm water. The enchiladas that I ordered came out 7 minutes after the rest of our entrees. The cheese was not melted, the rice was not hot, and the beans were soup. I couldn’t eat it. We ordered a side of guacamole that was clearly made several days ago, with a brown color and no salt. No one checked on us after the food arrived.
There was a mildly pervasive smell of seafood in the dining room, and for some reason the temperature under the table was frigid.
An African American man was the only person who smiled and said hello; he was FaceTiming while working and his pants fell down to expose his butt crack every time he went up the stairs. Not sure what his position was as he was not in uniform, nor was anyone else.
The check was dropped and we said thank you to no reply, and no one said a word when we left. Easily one of the worst...
Read moreThis place is often very good quality but we always sit outside as the IU students are very loud inside and they use Fabuloso on the floors while you eat - awful. But tonight I ordered a meal that I have gotten 5 times before- banana leaf tamales. It says on the menu 'made with chicken'. I opened the first one and it was shrimp-in the shell. I picked around until she came back and I told her that it said chicken on the menu and that's what I had expected. The response was bizzare- Our waitress was apologetic, which was fine but then this old woman came out to add confusion. Saying that is the 'family makes it' (barely comprehensible) and she took the food away. She returned after 5 minutes with the correct meal- 2 chicken tamales...which was great. Until yet another server brings us the bill and tells us that the initial server had to rush to the hospital for her father (guilt tactic for $$?) And if we want anything else that we should refer to "her or another server" as she points in the general direction of the kitchen.
The the older woman rushes over to grab out bill from us and frantically offers free beer for my husband, who does not refuse. Turns out, the original server- dogged and sweet, busses out table at the end. Too strange. On top of it all they overcharged us for my meal- $14.65 when it states $12.99 on the menu (when I should have gotten it for free). No longer my favorite...
Read moreI found the food extremely bland and the service not so great either. Specifically I ordered the pozole, and while the menu it states that the dishes served traditionally with many things on the side to add into the soup mine came with a giant mound of lettuce and onions piled in the middle of the bowl of soup and they were apparently out of some of the other sides such as radishes. The carne asada tacos were extremely bland also. Many of the restaurants I've had the dish in before it is obvious that the beef is marinated and seasoned with some attention. The meat in these tacos was obviously just beef cooked in some oil. We also ordered four of their chicken for a day tamales. Three of them were chicken one was vegetable when they arrive. All of them were very dry and crumbly without much taste. I was going to give one star but I bumped it up to two so because the waitress asked us what we thought of the meal and could tell we were somewhat disappointed so she asked us to be very honest. So we told her very honestly what we thought and it was nice to see someone listening with interest and a...
