Maybe we are going to Michael's at the wrong time (dinner) on the wrong day (every day we go there) The food IS good but the service is an embarrassment! We asked for water when we first sat down (we were the only table there, as usual and the booth was dirty). We had to ask FOUR TIMES before we got some. We had to remind her THREE TIMES for more bread. She spilled my husbands $7 glass of wine and I finally had to speak up to have her replace it and she seemed bewildered by this because we had a bottle of the "same thing "on the table. Instead of keeping an eye on their tables ( to refill water, etc. Forget about having the table pre-bussed. Our empty dishes sat there throughout the meal) the staff sits at the bar! Our waitress brought us the bill (still no empty dishes removed). As soon as we signed the credit card statement, she was RIGHT THERE to pick it up for her tip. Things did begin to get a little better when a man (boss?) came in. I was a waitress for many years and I have to wonder who is training or supervising the staff? We had previously been there and seated when we were informed that the cook would have to be "called in". Last night we had to order from a paper "event menu" The Michael's Chicken was not on it....It's THE MICHAEL'S CHICKEN!! ON A FRIDAY NIGHT!! AT DINNER TIME! We will not be back. We've tried too many times but it's just too uncomfortable and there are SO many other choices...
Read moreLet me first say that I don't usually write reviews for places, but we were so disappointed by our experience that I felt obligated to warn others. My Fiancé and I went here for brunch because we had heard good things, and I had purchased a C.I. Savings (basically Groupon for Central Illinois) voucher for $20 worth of food. We were extremely disappointed in the brunch buffet—the whole thing looked like it had been sitting out since they opened, the food options were pretty slim (they didn't even have bacon, and their biscuits were hard) and sure enough, the hashbrowns that I tried were cold. The coffee tasted like it came from a crappy dinner, not like a cup I would get at an upper-scale restaurant. To top all of this off, when we went to pay, they refused to let me use the voucher I paid for because it wasn't printed out (no where in the restrictions or fine print did it inform us that we had to print it.) AND, the bill was $40. For TWO people. For a crappy buffet.
The only reason we're giving this two stars is because of the only good thing on the buffet—the omelet station. The guy who made them for us was nice. And my Fiancé mentioned they had nice clean bathrooms.

He took our drink order, about 5 minute later the waiter came and took our order.to shorten the story, there were only 3 other tables occupied. It took over 35 minutes before our order arrived the waiter returned once and then disappeared. After we finished our meal we waited15 minutes and had to flag down the waiter to ask for our ticket..the waiter went to figure it and instead started answering the phone A full 10minutes passed. We finally got up and headed to the bar where the the waiter was still on the phone. The manager was sitting at the bar watching TV and eating. I asked if he had my ticket, his response was to point to the waiter who got off the phone and started figuring the tab. HD asked how was everything .I saidthe food was great, the service was terrible. He laughed and I told him I was serious. The ma ager ever got involved.
