Wow. Holy amazing. You've got to be kidding me! We found this on Google and boy is this a diamond. What in the world!? Yes!
Say Cheese sits at the back of an open air shopping area and is a simple kiosk. There are several well decorated picnic tables with umbrellas. Napkin dispensers on the tables. The area is cozy and quaint.
Ah but the food! We tried the Pizza Pizzaz (11.99), Sweet & Savory (11.99), and Creamy Tomato Soup (2.95). I uploaded a menu so you can see what's in these. The bread with how it is prepared is without doubt the best grilled cheese type sandwich I have tasted. No exaggeration. It is buttery/cheese heaven. While I like both sandwiches, the Pizza Pizzaz with the soup dipping sauce was mouthgasmic. The Creamy Tomato Soup was more of the same. Frankly, the food here is beyond ridiculous and worth a trip to Blowing Rock for me. It is outstanding. All food items are a la carte and you can add Miss Vickie's Chips (several flavors) should you choose.
We met and spoke to the couple who owns and runs the joint. Both were chatty, detailed their restaurant, and even how things are prepared. Service was quick and your food is brought to your table. And I mean super quick.
Say Cheese has me saying more than just that and mostly "wow" or any other buzzword that comes to mind. I don't remember how something so simple has blown me away to this degree. Go. Find a...
Read moreIf you are in Blowing Rock, do yourself a favor and visit 'Say Cheese! You will not regret it! My wife, son-in-law and I ate lunch there today and it was delicious. We had the 'Cheesy Goodness', 'Brie Baby' and 'Pizza Pizzaz (with Pepperoni)' and they were all delicious! My wife is a real cheese sandwich connoisseur and she said that hers was the best cheese sandwich she had ever had.
I had the Pizza Pizzaz and loved it!! If you have children, I'd recommend it for them. The taste is great and they will enjoy dipping it in the soup condiment. One would probably be enough for two middle school or younger children.
The owners, Wendy & Chad, were super nice! We enjoyed our conversation with them very much. Very interesting people. From their 'About' page: "They worked on yachts as a chef and captain team for over 16 years."
It is located at the back of SoutheMark Shopping Center which is across from 'The Town Tavern'. Walk past 'Monkee's of Blowing Rock' and '100 West Union Men's Wear' and turn right in front of 'Serves You...
Read moreAnother Sister Trip to Blowing Rock has come and gone. It’s hard to believe there were shoppes that were new to us. Let’s start with SAY CHEESE. This might sound like a photography shop but it’s not. It is the BEST gourmet grilled cheese eatery. This is owned by a husband and wife team. She was so sweet and informative. She also said if we wanted to alter an item or order something special, she would do it, if she had the ingredients. We both ordered the Sweet & Savory. It was crisp bacon, peach jalapeño jam, smoked Gouda and provolone all held together with perfectly buttered and grilled sourdough bread. It was perfect golden crispness meets ooey gooey cheese, meets sweet hot jam and bacon. This combination cannot be beat. My sister will challenge that statement because she subbed the peach jalapeño jam for fig jam and it was delicious too. They are to go only but they have a lovely patio area to enjoy your sandwich. They are in the heart of downtown BR. Don’t miss this...
