I am very hard to please. My son told me and my wife we needed to eat here while in Blowing Rock. When we got here there was a 20 min wait for a table. I hate waiting especially when you are only 2 people. When we were finally seated the wait staff was slow to welcome us. When she came she was very nice but extremely busy. I was a little disappointed in the menu because it was only Pub fare. We ordered and was pleasantly surprised the food was really good. We had a couple beers then after dinner we ordered some cocktails. I ordered a redbull and vodka. Mine came in a short tumbler glass. Every other time I have ordered this drink it came in a tall glass with a shot of vodka and a can of bull next to it. I was disappointed. As I looked around the bar area for the waitress I saw a guy with a blue hat and gray sweatshirt who looked like the Manager cleaning tables. I asked him if he was the manager and he said yes and I'm also the owner. He asked if there was something he could do for me. Remember I am not an easy person to please. I then told him that I was not happy about the redbull & vodka drink I had. He let me vent for about 30 seconds about how I normally get them and then he ask how much do I expect to pay? I said 10-12 bucks. He said this is how we normally serve them and we only charge $7. With that I was surprised to get any cocktail for only $7. Then he asked me if he could buy me a drink....a redbull & vodka. He brought me a tall glass with ice and a shot or two of vodka and a can of redbull. I was really impressed with Justin the owner and how he handled the situation with a tough customer......ME. Great place to eat....you may have to wait for a table because the food is great and the Owner cares about the Customers. We look forward to...

We ate lunch here today. The place was amazingly busy, partly due to town activities, and partly just because it seems a popular place. Unfortunately, we were disappointed. It was about 20 minutes before our food arrived, which is fine, but it wasn't our food. The waitress realized as she was placing things on the table, and quickly pulled it back. About 10 or so minutes later we finally got our order, but it wasn't quite right. Our soups were also cold as if they had been sitting. We let it go and just ate. Our appetizer actually arrived as we were finishing lunch and it wasn't hot either. Our waitress only checked on us once but she realized what happened, and removed the appetizer from our bill, which was a great move. Very much appreciated.

The thing that bothered us the most was that someone who appeared to be the manager, was mostly focused on his friends and making sure they were all set. He was oblivious to the chaos happening around him. His attention to them even frustrated the bartender as he pushed her for their drinks. She was madly overwhelmed and his only question was where their drinks were.

Overall, it was clear the staff, especially the manager, just couldn't process the amount of people in there very well. It was to the point that most people were noticing. The food seemed like it would have been good if it was what we ordered and wasn't cold, but the crazy service just turned us off. It's probably worth trying if you're near there, but we will...

Took my family here about two years ago last time we were in town and had a great time. Food was really good. So this year when in town it seemed a natural choice to go back. Unfortunately our experience was so bad I don’t think we will be going back. Our waitress was nice but not very attentive. Our salads were terrible. I seriously thought they were a McDonalds salad that they were serving. Also we ordered grilled shrimp on one salad and grilled chicken on another salad. Waitress comes back at 9:40 to let us know the grill closes at 10 and they won’t grill our food. So we had to opt for fried chicken and fried shrimp. The lazy staff must have been cleaning up and didn’t want to grill anything when clearly they could have done so in 20 minutes. When was the last time you grilled shrimp? Takes a few minutes! Waitress was apologetic but it was ridiculous. So we agreed to go with the fried chicken and shrimp. I guarantee they get that stuff at Walmart in frozen bags and just heat it up. And I am sure the chopped up salad also comes prepackaged from Walmart. We ordered the loaded nachos with bbq on top. We ordered it two years ago and it was delicious so we were eager to get it again. This time the portion was very small and there was absolutely nothing delicious about it. Very blah. The only redeeming factor was that two of us ordered the fish and chips and that was great. So you should probably skip the salads and steer toward...

Do I recommend this restaurant? We ate here two days in a row, so yes. We had such a great experience here with Baylee, we came back the next day. Our first night there, It was raining off and on but we opted to risk it and sat outside. They have a great patio area and a live guitar player/singer that was actually very enjoyable and not too loud. I got the ribeye steak and cheese with hot chips and my sister got the French dip with fries. Everything was so good! It did rain and I got wet so I just stood up to stay under the umbrella. They offered to move us inside but we declined. The rain did not change the great tasting food and I still enjoyed the music. That’s when I realized, you can’t control the weather but you can control your mood. Choose to be happy! Baylee was so sweet and offered great service, even in the rain. When we went back the next day for lunch, we figured Baylee wouldn’t be working so we didn’t ask for her. She actually was working, she recognized us and stopped by our table to say hello! How nice is that? Emma Grace helped us and she was also very polite and efficient. I got the crab cake sandwich with with fries and my sister got the fish sandwich with fries. Everything was excellent! We already have reservations for next June and we will definitely come back here.

So, first time here. I am giving my review as the evening progresses. Tough start. Waited 53 minutes for a seat at the bar. I was offered a table 2 minutes later. I really thought that since the weather was gloomy and wet, it wouldn't be too hard to get in at 8:15 pm. Boy, was I wrong(for reference, it is a Friday night). I may be wrong, but it seems as though the locals get preferential treatment. At one point, as I was waiting, there were 3 barstools tilted towards the bar(maybe they were smoking?). The thing is, 2 of them stayed that way for 15-20 minutes. Nevertheless, I continued to wait. Ordered French Onion Soup to start. Lots of onions. They were actually a tad crunchy, which would explain the flavor. They were definitely not caramelized. It had more beefy flavor than onion. A tad over salted. The flavor was....ok. Next up was a French Dip and Onion Rings. The Onion Rings actually had a nice flavor. That said, there was not a lot of Onion in SOME of the Rings Wish they had toasted the roll. It was very soft. Meat was a bit dry. Ok flavor. The ladies behind the bar were pleasant and reasonably responsive. Prices are very reasonable. I realize this is a low key place. However, I really believe they could improve their product and charge accordingly.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at the Town Tavern in Blowing Rock, and it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. The restaurant boasts a welcoming atmosphere with incredibly friendly and attentive staff who made us feel right at home.We opted to sit outside, and it was a perfect choice. The outdoor seating area is comfortable and offers a lovely ambiance, especially with the live music playing. The band was fantastic, providing beautiful and lively tunes that enhanced our evening. It’s not often you find a place where you can enjoy great food and equally great live entertainment.Speaking of food, everything we ordered was delicious. The menu has a good variety of options, and everything was cooked to perfection. The dishes were flavorful and well-presented, adding to the overall top-notch experience. Whether you’re in the mood for something hearty or a bit lighter, there's something for everyone.Overall, the Town Tavern in Blowing Rock is a gem. It combines excellent food, friendly service, and great music in a charming setting. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a wonderful dining experience. We’ll definitely be back!
