Parking lot is too small and full so we parked at Davant field and took Broyhill Park trail to get there. I recommend eating before going, there's an awesome gazebo pavilion overlooking a creek at the Davant field, for a picnic. Bathrooms at Davant and Memorial park. It's a strenuous 2.5 hour trail and kids will need the fuel to get through this one. And water bottles. So the trail is steep, very steep and twisty, not the best for dogs or humans with joint issues🤣 The waterfalls get bigger as you go down ( way bigger than I was expecting ) Very impressive. Awesome areas for kids to play around in at bottom of each fall but shoes with a grip are a must and supervision. There are no handrails and you can freely roam around the top of these falls which are extremely high up. Side trails to access top of falls do loop back in so you don't have to back track which is nice. Afterwards you can just stay parked at the field and walk into town. Memorial park playground is awesome for kids. So this place definitely exceeded my expectations, absolutely beautiful, but prepare for it for sure. Aster was blooming and that...

It's a moderately steep climb down and up, but worth the views. Did this hike with my 7-yr old and 11-yr old. I was a bit worried reading some of the reviews saying this was not a family friendly hike, however, I've seen my kids climb on play structures at playgrounds and figured I'd take a risk. Glad I did as the kids did great, and the three falls were beautiful.

There's some tricky areas with exposed roots and large rocks, but there wasn't any loose dirt or soil. Never felt like my kids were struggling. We're city dwellers with minimal hiking/climbing skills. The most strenuous part is really coming back up. It's really not a technically challenging hike other than the elevation change (500 feet I think?). Thankfully there's several areas to rest and sit down. The path is clearly marked and wide enough for really just one person in most places, but there are plenty of areas to pull off to the side to let other people pass if needed.

Parking in the area is kind of a mess depending on what time you go, but keep circling until you find a spot. This hike will...

Please read this if you are thinking of taking small children on this hike:

If I were an experienced hiker and hadn’t attempted this with my 5 year old, I would have given more stars. A couple of reviewers mentioned that this is a great trail for a family, which is why we went. I would have to disagree. The cascades are truly beautiful, but it’s a tough trek to the falls... and an even tougher trek back up. As the trail begins, it is pretty well laid out but once you get past the bridge (others mentioned it had been washed out, but it looks like it’s been rebuilt since then) it’s rough, slippery, and narrow on the edge of a cliff. There are downed trees and lots of roots and large rocks to navigate around within a narrow space. Although beautiful, I would NOT recommend this for small children. Also, be aware that this trail does NOT loop around. It is 1.6 miles to the falls... then you turn around and hike the same 1.6 mile trail back. I would recommend this, but not with...

If you are a senior and/or not in excellent health,I would not reccommend this trail. There are some parts where the dirt is steep and slippery. If you dont have excellent balance you could very easily slip. My husband and i regularly do trails rated a 6 in difficulty on our waterfall map and some occassional 7's which usually have parts with ropes to hang onto down very steep parts. This has no ropes, but although these steep and slippery areas are limited to a couple 12 foot stretches, it isnt worth it. Also the trail descends a long ways and after going 1.4 miles down we still werent near the falls according to another hiker coming up, so we finally bailed and went back. We will stick to trails rated 6 from now on. We made it to the first cascades as pictured.

This would for sure be 5 stars most of the year. What a beautiful place! The day we went was super muddy because the snow from Christmas was melting. The rocks and exposed tree roots actually helped us stay on our feet rather than sliding downhill through the mud! Due to the mud (and ice in some places) we unfortunately only made it to the first set of falls, but it took us about 45 minutes to get that far, and the same amount of time coming back. It's a moderately difficult climb both down and up, but kids that stay on the trail can definitely make it to the first waterfall without a huge challenge (The Cascades). Older individuals with unsure footing should proceed with caution. This isn't a leisurely walk by any means.
