I'm really disappointed with the customer service I received today. I called to place a delivery order for our office. 5 people. The girl who answered the phone said they deliver within a 3.5 mile radius and was less than thrilled when I asked her if she could find out how far we were from them. I asked if we could use 5 different credit cards, and was told only ONE. That's absurd. So you can order your meals online for carry-out and use 5 cards, or go in to the restaurant and eat, and use 5 cards, but if you want it delivered, then you can't use 5 cards. I asked her if she really wanted to lose the business of 5 orders, and she said yes, so I hung up. I have known the owner Jennifer since she owned Bangkok Terrace in downtown Blue Ash, and thought I will call her. I"m sure she'll make an exception. Well.....got the same girl again on the phone and when I asked for Jennifer, she said "sorry she's busy". I said "is she there?". "yes, she's here but she's cooking". Well, do you think I could talk to her? I pressed the issue, and heard the girl put her hand over the phone as she giggled and talked to someone. I ended up just hanging up. So apparently this restaurant has so much business, that they can turn away $50 lunch orders, or they just don't really want to deliver their food. It got 2 stars because the food is good, and I've always like Jennifer. But I think she needs to hire some new help. I won't be ordering from here any time soon. I'll stick with Bangkok Terrace even though their food isn't quite as good. They have excellent...
Read moreOverall, I'd rate Basil Thai a 3.75/5; I lean a bit closer to four but not quite there. I have ordered delivery from this restaurant twice. It is timely and always arrives warm, which is awesome!
I am pescatarian, and I always order my meals with shrimp. You get... a kinda disappointing amount considering the upcharge that's applied. The shrimp is also just a bit overcooked- but still enjoyable, and other flavors in the dish can easily make up for that.
Speaking of flavors, that is where this restaurant shines! I have thoroughly enjoyed the Pad Thai, Yellow Curry, and Tom Kha soup here. Especially the yellow curry- wow! The flavor is nothing short of soul satisfying. The Thai Tea is a touch on the sweet side for my tastes, but is still delicious- makes for a great dessert option.
I think this will be my go-to Thai place in the area- but they can really make a splash if they make just a few tiny adjustments to improve quality. Keep up the good work and...
Read moreBasil Thai is clean with modern decor and lots of plants. I was seated right away at 12:15 on Friday afternoon, party of 1. There were a number of larger tables empty as well.
Thai green iced tea wasn't on menu; the waitress had to check so perhaps it is an occasional offering. I found it definitely worth the ask. Thai iced tea is one of my favorite drinks and this was a nice variation. It's also huge.
Red curry used to be my go-to test item, but recently it has been pineapple (curry) fried rice. This offering? Light, fresh, and different. In addition to the usual ingredients of pineapple, onion, and cashews, this one has peas, carrots, and raisins. Raisins! It worked well. I also love how they cut the onions--long, thin strips instead of the wider chunks that take most of your bite. Lunch portion is enough to leave you feeling notably full, but not uncomfortable if you...
