Awlful! Beware of the associated organization. Resupply. I wanted to donate a dining room table with four chairs, a living room couch, chair and exercise bike. All of these items were in excellent condition and I thought a needy family could truely benefit from this donation. I did not have to pay a mover to donate these items I could have sold them outright and made a profit. Instead of coming out of my pocket to pay a mover to pick them up so I could donate them. New Life's website indicates they will pick up items only if they donot have to enter your home. Thats where Resupply comes in. If the items cannot be moved to a common area they want you to pay the movers contracted through Resupply to move the items. it's a racket. I called New Life to get a quote and was told the only way to get a quote from Resupply is through the website. I went through the website against my better judgement and was given what I considered a reasonable quote for a donation pickup of $150. + $10 fee to hold the date. When the movers arrived not only did they not follow the directions that were clearly given in the text exchange between myself and the driver Vince earlier that morning, in addition I provided an itemized description of each of the items that was being donated. All of a sudden when the Resupply movers arrives the quote went from $150 to $270 weven though they had a itemized list of each of the items being donated. So, there was no reason for the price to change from the original quote. I absolutely did not agree to the increased quote and I told the movers as much. Vince said, let me call dispatch, he did and I told the dispatcher the same thing. I advised him to cancel this pickup donation and I that I did not agree to the increased quote of $270 to move 7 items with a dolly that I had provided. I clearly articulated this transaction was cancelled and I did not agree to the new terms. But my credit card was billed for this charge anyway. I contacted Resupply by email and advised them of this charge and they have not responded. This whole organization is...
Read moreI really don’t enjoy complaining about charitable organizations or anything but I was told incorrect information and planned for the items that were supposed to be delivered. Also the items that I got were too awkward that they don’t really serve a purpose. The tv stand was the one nice thing that was supposed to be mine but they broke it on their way to my place. One of the metal bed frames is rusted so it can’t be adjusted. I will have to pass along what I can’t use and I don’t have the support to take out the things that don’t serve a purpose. I was told that the delivery fee wouldn’t be adjusted even if my things were broken. I asked if I could please have the office chair because I work at a desk and they said it was fine and then left without giving to me. Perhaps I’m just easily disappointed or overly critical but the whole process was exciting at first, the website shows items that are very nice, & nobody put thought into what was delivered or cared to deliver it without damage. Hopefully I can try to make it work for what it is. Everything should be done with consistency and given consideration & thought for serving a purpose. I was told I would have a box fan and a vacuum as well but that didn’t happen either....
Read moreI had the great honor of serving as this year's Design Chair for New Life Furniture Bank's Party In the House fundraiser. I cannot express enough how wonderful and gratifying my experience was to serve this amazing nonprofit organization. Not only does NLFB help people coming out of devasting life circumstances by furnishing their homes at no charge, but they also have an amazing team at all levels completely devoted to their mission. Everyone I worked with at New Life was a pleasure to work with and extremely appreciative of my volunteer time. In addition, my firm has participated in their Design With A Heart program, where we furnished a young single-parent family in need. This family of 3 had almost had nothing to live with, including beds to sleep in. I cannot express enough the heartwarming experience it was, especially when the family in need walked into their newly furnished home with a feeling of joy and hope. This organization truly is a gem in this town that continues to grow and spread giving and love to people in need. I highly recommend donating your gently used furniture to them, donating to or volunteering for this great...
