I chose this hotel because it was close to the renaissance fair for me and my family. I'm a top tier member with Hyatt and having stayed at plenty of Hyatt Place hotels I figured they were all pretty much the same. Sadly, I was wrong. ||The front desk always had either zero or one person there including when we checked in on Saturday night. I was very surprised as 2-3 people to check people in, take care of problems, and handle the bar/food area is the norm. In our stay of two nights we always saw one of two young men who, while pleasant overall, were severely lacking in English skills and the ability to address questions or problems.||I will say that the bed was comfortable, the A/C worked well, and the blackout curtains did their job. Normally that's all you think about but I guess you really do get used to certain standards and miss them if they're unavailable.||Breakfast seemed okay from what I could tell but that was tough because none of the foods were replenished so they were out of most things. I ended up making a breakfast of sausage and the last of the apple juice (orange was out). The woman in front of me asked about bagels and was ignored until she went back a half hour later and was told the hotel had no more. That pretty much epitomizes the whole breakfast experience.||Our room had a brochure with the standard hot food items you can order from the bar area. I've eaten lots of these things many times and they're pretty good. The problem was that this hotel didn't bother offering the items on their menu. Likewise the fresh baked cookies that are standard fare at HP hotels were absent, with only chips and candy bars to eat. Why advertise something you know you're not going to provide?||The biggest problem was that one of our rooms had no hot water on the first morning (the second was fine). I went to the front desk to inquire about this problem but the young man there was unable to answer my questions about whether this was normal, what could they do, was there an expected time to fix this, and whether it was the entire second floor or only our room. The man understood "no hot water" but simply said that they could switch the room to another at 3:00 PM. We would be gone all day so that was no help at all. We just decided to tough it out rather than having a lot more delays by all taking turns in one room's shower. When we returned at 8:00 PM the hot water had been restored so we were in better spirits.||The next morning the hot water on the second floor had stopped working again. Having bathed the night before we once again did not all bathe as the cold water seemed unappealing. I mentioned this at checkout but did not receive so much as an apology.||There were a number of small secondary problems that for a normal stay would seem bigger but with the issues this hotel has they have bigger fish to fry.||I looked into the office periodically during our stay to see if I could spot a manager to discuss the shortcomings of our stay but unsurprisingly no manager was ever visible.||No hotel stay is ever perfect. I was not expecting perfection. I do, however, think that following brand standards is both expected and policy for a franchise. That's the reason people choose a company: because they know what to expect. In this case the Hyatt Pace Blue Ash failed miserably. If this had been my first Hyatt Place stay I would simply never go to any of them, thinking they were...
Read moreMy family stayed at the Hyatt Place Blue Ash over Memorial Day weekend. Check-in was quick and easy. There is plenty of free parking as the hotel is in the suburbs and doesn't require paid parking. The room was clean and thermostat worked well. My wife and I took the bed which was comfortable and linens were clean and soft. The pillows were the best I've used in a hotel and I even found I liked them as much as the pillow I brought from home for the trip. Our two daughters shared the pullout sleeper sofa. They both said it was comfortable. I laid on it to test it out and it was the most comfortable sleeper sofa mattress I've experienced. The room is larger than a standard hotel room which nice features like two sinks, charging station and sectional sofa with large screen tv. The only negatives on the room were the bathroom. it is very small and requires you to get in the shower or straddle the toilet to have enough room to close the door. The ceiling lights had two different sized bulbs and one was missing a trim piece so attention to detail was missed. The bathroom door wasn't all the same color as several areas appeared to be touched up with using a different shade of tan. Very minor imperfections that didn't impact the enjoyment of the hotel overall. But the bathroom was interesting the way it was laid out. The breakfast was the reason I chose this particular hotel. It did not disappoint other than the selection seemed to go down throughout the morning and not replenished. My wife went down for coffee at 8am and had some amazing monkey bread. The kids and I went down at 9:00am and no monkey bread was left and it didn't get replenished in the 45 minutes we were down there. We had the eggs, garlic potatoes, sausage, biscuits & gravy, yogurt with fruit and granola, banana bread, rye toast and several beverage options. The food was warm and tasted great. The eggs were not the typical powered, buffet style eggs. The potatoes appeared to be freshly cut and had amazing taste. The country gravy tasted like something mom would make as comfort food.
I would stay in this hotel again on our next trip to Cincinnati. It is a clean, quiet hotel conveniently located with a delicious breakfast included. Nothing else can be asked...
Read moreThis had to be one of the worst hotel experiences I’ve ever had in a variety of different ways-
The problems started with the hotel and Hyatt corporate insisting that I only had one night booked for my daughter’s soccer tournament when we booked through an agency with the rest of our soccer team as part of a block. After at least a month of back and forth and runaround, I was finally able to see everything corrected on the Hyatt app yesterday, the day before we left to come here.
We arrived and checked into our room, which was a room with two double beds and a sofa bed, which is what was paid for. We unpacked and were getting ready for bed. When my daughter went to take a shower, she noticed the shower was broken, I confirmed this and immediately called the front desk. The gentleman at the front desk commented that they KNEW the shower had been broken and he guessed that maintenance hadn’t fixed it. He was able to move us to another room, but mind you, this was at 10pm as we were getting ready for bed, so we had to pack everything back up and move to another floor and room. To make matters even worse, the new room only had one bed and no sleeper sofa for the two of us.
When I reached out to the “concierge”, I was told since we were onsite, someone from the hotel would reach out to me to resolve
Nobody from the hotel reached out, I had to initiate the discussion. When I did, on Saturday morning, the woman at the front desk told me she would refund me the difference between the double and the single rooms.
When I looked at my bill, they had only done so for one night, and so I had to approach the front desk again on Sunday, at which point, the “manager” told me he would get it fixed- he also said “we moved past the broken shower”, basically, making light of the inconvenience his hotel caused for my family.
I reached out to the concierge again upon getting home and was told my concern would be escalated- it never was. After reaching out again, I was given “World of Hyatt” points, which is great if I ever had any intention of giving them any business again.
We travel a lot for sports, vacation, and business. This was our first time staying at a Hyatt location - I can confidently say it will also be our...
