Dear Steak ’n Shake Corporate Team, I am writing to bring to your attention an extremely distressing and unsatisfactory experience I had at your “Steak 'n shake, 1 Cypress Edge Dr, Palm Coast, FL 32164”on “July 3rd”. This incident has left me emotionally distraught, upset, and uncomfortable to the highest degree. On July 3rd, at 10:45 PM, I pulled into the drive-thru with the intention of rewarding my daughter for her excellent performance in summer school. We ordered our meal, and when I reached the window, I asked to add an ice cream shake because I couldn’t hear the representative on the intercom. The young lady at the window informed me, quite rudely, that it would take about 20 minutes because the car in front of us had ordered around 20 shakes. Accepting the delay, I told her never mind about the shake. However, what followed was a series of unacceptable events: 1. Prolonged Wait Time: We ended up waiting for 30 minutes, watching multiple employees walk past our food numerous times. The car in front, which supposedly ordered 20 shakes, received only one ice cream and left. 2. Lack of Attention: We waved to get someone’s attention from the drive-thru window, and the young lady came to the window three times before finally reading our order back to us. 3. Additional Shake Request: When I requested to add the shake again due to our long wait, the shake maker informed us that there was only one machine and one person making shakes, and it would take another 15 minutes. The shake maker rudely stated, “Corporate doesn’t care.” 4. Unprofessional Behavior: The shake maker’s attitude was very rude and aggressive. They made me feel extremely uncomfortable and refused to make the shake, dismissing our concerns with no effort to resolve the issue. This experience was incredibly frustrating and left my daughter and me extremely upset. The unprofessionalism of the staff and the lack of adequate service are unacceptable. Such treatment not only reflects poorly on the specific location but also on Steak ’n Shake as a brand. I demand immediate action to address this issue. I expect a formal apology and compensation for the distress and inconvenience caused by this incident. Additionally, I urge you to review the staff’s behavior and training protocols at this location to prevent such occurrences in the future. Thank you for your prompt attention to this matter. I hope to hear from you soon to discuss how this can be resolved. Sincerely

It was Mother's Day and we were looking for some place to go that wouldn't be high volume. We decided milkshakes were in order. I hadn't been to Steak 'n Shake in quite some time, and that became apparent when we walked in the door. Steak 'n Shake used to be a full-service establishment, and since my last experience there that has most certainly changed. There were almost no other patrons in the dining room and so it was good that we had nearly the whole place to ourselves. Guests order by kiosk, now, and fountain drinks are filled by guests as well. It was a stark difference to no fault of the restaurant of course, but certainly a sign of the times. Employee Brenda added some personality and customer service in the way she announced food was ready by the name entered into the kiosk when ordering. She did a great job bringing her friendliness and enthusiasm to the microphone when she called for us to retrieve our items. Excellent way to carry out the humanness of the workers now mostly behind the scenes. She was a perfect representative and is in the right spot. All good things coming from her. Great energy. The milkshakes were satisfying. There weren't many modification choices as there ever used to be, but that is understandable with the change from full-service to kiosk ordering. Thanks to everyone there on the grill and behind the walls. You're doing great. Keep on keepin' on.

Came here while leaving from traveling back home from seeing my son who lives in palm coast and got hungry and came for a Frisco melt. Simple order, no Swiss cheese, please add bacon. The first time around the order went ok, not amazing but not awful, pulled forward and checked the food and the frisco burger didn’t have bacon and was made so poorly I literally couldn’t pick up to eat it because there was so much ketchup and Mayo glopped all the burger that it just kept falling apart so we drive back to the pick up window and showed the girl who took our order and told her there was no bacon on it and she gave us the most disgusted look ever like she appalled that we had an issue with their poor ability to assemble a burger. It was sloppy and all over the place like that because your staff made it that way! So to look disgusted by it and act like that disgust was with me was surprising:. She refused to take the messy food from me and said they’d just remake it. We needed many napkins to clean the mess it made all over our car from trying to hang it to her, she acted burdened by that request. We told her the original burger was an add bacon burger and she brought the new one out and said she’s sure it’s right this time so we checked it quickly and pulled forward and low and behold there was once again no bacon, We were charged for bacon but it wasn’t there again, also the bread on this burger is supposed to be grilled (that’s the whole point of ordering it this way) and it was just plain raw gross soggy bread. Something I could make at home for much less. I couldn’t just pull back to the window a 3rd time because the line was full and we didn’t have time to wait in that line again because we had a time we had to be home with our other child so I called the establishment to ask how to proceed without being in that long line and they let it ring for a very long time and finally picked it up and as soon as I started to talk hung up on my face! I called back twice more and just got laughed at and hung up on! I ended up throwing my bag of food into the parking lot in hopes that when I called the following day to report this they’d know it was true because the bag of uneaten paid for food was in the parking lot still but when I called the following day I was once again hung up on. I never got more than “hello is the manager” out before being hung up on. I had a polite tone every time I called and every time I was hung up on. Idk if they have caller id and knew it was the woman from the night before and were just taunting me or what but I gave up calling and decided id just leave a review. Maybe then an actual responsible adult will see what happened and hopefully teach their staff to do better. Waste of a lot of time and a waste of my money. DO...

I tried putting this on their feedback on their website, but despite them claiming they wanted as much detail as possible, they errored me with too many characters.... and I wasn't about to start counting and editing. This is what I TRIED to put....

Ordered a shake. After a few orders came up for others, a shake was put up on the counter without an announcement of whose it was (name or number.... I am Mike, order #185). Figured it COULD be mine, or maybe was to go with a food order. A minute later, she placed a tray up and called a name out (George maybe?). So I waited nearly ten more minutes (15+ minutes in now), and others who ordered food after me were getting their orders... but this food and shake were still up there. I went up to the counter and waited another couple of minutes to talk to the woman putting the orders up.... but she didn't return. Next, another girl walked up with a to-go order and asked if I was Todd. I said no and tried to ask her about my shake, but she ignored me and walked away. I waited ANOTHER few minutes, then got fed up (running out of time), threw my receipt on the counter, and walked out. $6.18 AND 25ish minutes of my life wasted.... for a freaking shake!!!.... that I didn't even get!!!! I'd ask for a refund (NOT some coupon/voucher), but I don't plan on going to another S&S again (third visit ever ... TWO of them negative experiences). Next time I need an ice cream fix, I'll head to a proper ice cream parlor. Next time I want fast food, I'll stick with my favorite (with ZERO issues over countless visits)..... Culver's.

BTW.... while not dead, it was...
