I dined here this evening with my girlfriend and a friend after hearing great things about the restaurant. While the food—particularly the salad and pizza—was excellent, our overall experience was disappointing due to the poor service we received. Our server, Dimitri, made it abundantly clear he had no interest in serving our table. As someone with firsthand experience in customer-facing jobs, I’m generally very forgiving when it comes to service, but this was unacceptable. Dimitri rarely checked on us, failed to refill our drinks consistently, and carried an air of indifference and rudeness throughout the meal. It felt as though he had written us off from the start—perhaps due to our age, assuming we wouldn’t tip well. What made it more frustrating was seeing the table next to us, a couple around the same age, receiving noticeably better service. They were given condiments without needing to ask, had regular check-ins, and were clearly treated with more attentiveness and respect. By the end of our meal, other staff members had taken it upon themselves to do Dimitri’s job for him, which only highlighted how disengaged he was. When the owner stopped by our table to ask about our experience, we politely mentioned that while the food was great, the service was lacking. Surprisingly, no effort was made to rectify the situation—no apology, no compensation, nothing. In my opinion, Dimitri is not suited for this industry, and the lack of accountability from management is equally disappointing. Based on this experience, I would...
Read moreNearly a century of NYC pizza history has arrived in South Florida. Patsy’s Boca Raton, opened by former corporate chef Matthew Raja, is the first local outpost of the legendary East Harlem institution founded in 1933 by Pasquale “Patsy” Lancieri.
Unlike the original coal-fired oven in Harlem, this location uses a gas-fueled oven with a touch of coal for flavor, creating a crisp, charred crust that’s remarkably true to its roots. It’s a more polished experience than the NYC flagship—with a full bar, marble finishes, and a sit-down dining vibe that suits Mizner Park—but the pizza is serious.
We tried the Original Pie (low-moisture mozzarella, pure California tomato, no garlic overload) and the Margherita (fresh mozz, basil, bright and creamy). Both were excellent. The crust is feather-light, matzo-thin, and shatter-crisp—designed to be eaten immediately. Don’t take it to go; eat it hot.
Also worth trying: meatballs with ricotta (could use a touch more seasoning), a standout tiramisu (light, boozy, refined), and a strong espresso imported just for the restaurant.
In a sea of faux “New York-style” joints, Patsy’s is the real deal—executed with restraint, precision, and deep respect for tradition. Order your pie well-done, sit down, and taste a slice of living pizza history—no flight to New...
Read morei was there for my second time last night. Friday the 29th. I got to say that it is by far the best pizza anywhere here in Palm Beach county for sure. I had to go back just for the pizza--whatever kind you get it is the real deal NY style thin and crispy and delicious. If you get peperoni or mushroom or whatever, they put just enough on and the additions are all quality themselves.
The salads are right on also--really fresh, fairly sized for the pricing, and nicely presented. I have to say the only thing off is the very loud music. We liked the vibe there the first time. We were able to talk and it is fun to people watch when the people are all enjoying themselves.
But last night, they had the music just way too loud. I mean, the older money crowd, which Boca has a substantial amount of is not going to go there. I am only 38 and it was uncomfortably loud. Just not into yelling to have a conversation over great food.
Guys--you have it going great, it is not a party dance bar spot, it is a killer food and service plus a great value spot. Get the sounds under control so they augment, not define, a night out at Patsy's. Let all the people talk to each other...
