I visited the Boca Raton Sprinkles & Scoops Ice Cream Shop tonight & I wish I hadn’t.
I was craving something sweet and the only ice cream shop open at this time was this location. There was a single server working this shift and I ordered a traditional sundae. The shop does not appear to have functional AC and felt muggy from the humid weather. The portion size of the sundae was smaller than expected for the $7.95 price point and I was less than enthused about the portion of whipped cream and use of Hersheys chocolate syrup instead of hot fudge. The taste of the ice cream was fine.
The real kicker, however, came when it was time to pay. With the kiosk facing away from me, the cashier informed me that my total including tax was $8.51. I handed her my card and glanced at the screen to see her tap an additional button and the total changed to $10.21 - I was caught off guard and asked her to confirm my total and she responded that the total was including tax. I gently pushed the matter because I was genuinely confused about the unexpected price increase. Without offering any further explanation, she redid the transaction and turned the kiosk to face me showing the expected $8.51 due on the screen, which I paid. My receipt was texted to me and we left. In the car, I realized that she had added an additional 20% tip without asking me and without informing me of any required tip for servers before my purchase was completed. Whatever wage issues the servers at this chain appear to have need to be addressed with their management and not covertly taken out on customers. This entire ordeal was shady and I will definitely not...
Read moreLiterally, the worst service I have had in a while. If there is an assembly line of ice cream and toppings, a customer can not possibly know as they build their item, what they will actually want immediately at the register. The employee literally stood at the register, gave no direction, no explanation as we placed our order. This takes away from the fun and creativity of building a new flavor or taste.
The employee stated that they total you before you build and have recently applied that concept because some beach-goers have stolen or not paid.
As a business owner on Palmetto Park Road as well, (which I advised the employee) I know exactly what consumers are frequenting the area. To solve the problem of non payers, you simply keep the newly made ice cream on your side of the counter before completing the sale. This way you dont lose product.
Also, the bathroom is now closed for storage?! A restaurant (serving food to the public) with a closed bathroom? Pretty sure code enforcement for Boca Raton will not allow that if they knew.
Sadly, my business partner and I live in this area and have brought our families here many times in the recent past.
To come back and receive this type of service is a major decline in quality provided to the public.
After closing out our bill, my daughter asked for sprinkles, it was .51 cents more afterwards. We paid... which was not an issue.
I will not return here, and will advise anyone who asks me the same. That's how upsetting the experience was for my family.
As a fellow owner, I reccomend that develop a system so that your employees are trained better on how to handle the...

My boyfriend and I were spending the day together at Reed Reef beach yesterday 7/9 and after the beach we decided to get some ice cream. This shop was the closest place to where we were so we decided to stop by before we went home. I was really excited as I love sweets and ice cream while my boyfriend is not really the biggest fan of sweets. Upon entering around 5:20 ish we were greeted as soon as we walked in by a young girl that looked dead inside and appeared to be in her teens. Maybe her personality is naturally subdued but it didn't make the experience very inviting. I ordered the cookie dough on a waffle cone with caramel syrup (my favorite). The quality of the ice cream itself was okay. Not great but not bad. But not worth the $7 for it. Since my bf doesn't like sweets he ordered a smoothie. The name of it was Boca something. My bf noted that the strawberries in his smoothie didn't taste fresh and left a weird taste but we finished it. This morning 7/10 I woke up to a text from him saying that he was throwing up and had diarrhea since 6am! Now we spent the entire day together and ate exactly the same things, the only different thing was the ice cream and smoothie. So either the employee was not washing her hands, or the smoothie was spoiled and gave my bf FOOD POISONING! I did have some of his smoothie and I have a pretty strong stomach so I ended up only having a very mild reaction to it. This is unacceptable in an establishment like this! We will never...
