I'll start with the positives. The pan-seared gyoza was enjoyable, and the chicken karage was decent. Even the egg (added 2 extra, unfortunately, wasn't included on my purchase) was good.
However, the black ramen was a major disappointment. It tasted like bland sock water. I was initially concerned that my palate was off, but my wife agreed that it was tasteless. To make it even remotely palatable, I had to add an excessive amount of soy sauce. I've never had such a poor experience with ramen.
Furthermore, the ordered egg add-on was missing, which was frustrating. But frankly, the blandness of the ramen overshadowed that issue.
To add insult to injury, the pork chashu was served cold, as if it had been taken directly from the refrigerator.
If you enjoy bland ramen and appetizers, this place might be for you. However, I will not be returning. The poor quality of the ramen was simply unacceptable.
If you're in the Boca-Delray area and craving ramen that actually tastes like ramen, I recommend checking out these places
Ikkyu: Used to be my favorite, but it's a bit far from me now. Their quality can be inconsistent, but at least it's never been as bad as "sock water." Ramen 369: Not the absolute best, but consistently good and definitely not "sock water" – I want to emphasize that! Phat Boy Sushi: They also have excellent ramen just not many options. It's surprising to see this place with...
Read moreabsolutely amazing! when you walk in, you can go right to sit or left to place a to-go order at the touch screen kiosk. the tables on the right have qr codes for easy ordering from your table. chopsticks in the corner near the entryway of the kitchen. :) we had the thai tea boba, black sugar boba, black garlic ramen, spicy tonkotsu ramen, pork katsu, potato corn dog, and mochi donuts. the pork was tender, the broth rich and flavorful, and the ramen noodles were perfectly cooked. i usually make pork katsu myself, so finding a place with tender offerings is a big win. the boba was delicious too. they even gave us complimentary fried chicken, which was a nice surprise—maybe part of the grand opening? i forgot to ask..
for the boca grand opening, they gave away gift sets to the first 50 people. the chopsticks had a sleek design that matched the restaurant's vibe, and the sticker was a fun little bonus.
next time i hope to try the mochi balls.. 🤞🏼
the owner is doing an incredible job with the brand. it’s truly...
Read moreI ordered the Yuzu ramen, which is normally chicken based. I an sort of vegetarian, so I asked for no chicken, add mushrooms. Honestly I probably ordered wrong... i should have ordered the more traditional shoyu ramen. But this was interesting and I'm glad I tried. It tasted a little more like pho than ramen, with it's cilantro and lime. But the noodles were good, and there was nothing wrong with the auto, it just wasn't really what i was looking for. I also ordered passion fruit green tea boba tea, and the boba were overly form, and still a bit dry inside, essentially under cooked. There is so much good boba in this city, so this was disappointing. The mochi donut balls were huge. Not quite as tender and light as a mochinut, but also held the filling well. Warm, and crisp. Be sure to eat them fresh. The overall atmosphere was like a food court. - get your own chopsticks/ utensils, napkins etc. ...
