Bad Boy Burgers
A lot of people in Boise consider this the best fast food hamburger in town. It’s been ages since I’ve had a burger here, but after getting their Tuesday Cheeseburger lunch special today, I can see why. Based on this experience alone, I would say Bad Boy Burgers are least as good, if not better, than Golden Wheel, which is another local favorite. Both burgers tend to be a little too “saucy” and messy for my preference, but both are very good.
There are three locations. On 4/20/21, I visited the one on Vista, which is the original location. It has been family owned and operated since 1996. The Vista and Federal Way locations are under the same owner. There is also a location on Fairview that is owner by someone else. I have tried a burger at the Fairview more recently and didn’t care for it. It wasn’t bad. I just much prefer the food at the Vista location.
The only downside of the Vista location is that you either have to eat in your car, take it to go or eat it at the table that’s directly in front of the business, which is close to a busy street. Today, I got mine to go and eat in my backyard, but if the weather is warm, I highly recommend you get your food to go and have a picnic on the sloping hill in front of our historic Boise Train Depot, which is right down the road. Both the Federal Way and Fairview locations have indoor seating.
Bad Boy Burgers has a lunch special Monday through Saturday. The Tuesday Cheeseburger lunch special is a cheeseburger with fries and a 22 oz. drink for $7.55. Fry sauce is .50 cents extra.
I liked that the burger was good quality meat that had a nice crisp on it, without drying out the meat inside. Somewhat reminiscent of what happens when you smash a burger on the grill, though not quite to the same extent as they do at places like In-N-Out Burger. In addition to cheese, the burger was topped with lettuce, tomato, pickles and special sauce.
I love the french fries! These are some of my very favorite fast food french fries. Like the burgers, they are always made to order. They always come out perfectly cooked and plentiful. I still have more than 2/3 left from my lunch order. I wish I didn’t have to pay $.50 for fry sauce, but it’s made from scratch and a generous portion, so well worth it.
Highly...
Read moreGreat experience at the Bad Boy on Vista! Had the double bacon cheeseburger and onion rings. The rings were the best I've had in the valley. The portion was generous, the rings were a medium thickness cut, but still juicy and dense inside the breading, which was close to a panko style, and still crispy despite my 10 minute drive before I was able to start eating. The fry sauce I was given for them was closer to a 1000 island dressing style, with bits of pickle in it, rather than the more common ketchup/mayo style found around here. I was also given an excellent helping of the sauce in the single to-go cup, and was able to give each of my rings a good dunk without having to fear my last ring would be dry. On the burger front, I asked for mayo only instead of the fry sauce it would have normally come with, planning to add mustard and ketchup from packets available on the counter. The burger was an excellent size, with each patty being in the 5"+ diameter range. It came with 2 slices of nicely curled up bacon (i.e. cooked without a bacon press). The sesame bun was thin but held up well to the juiciness of the burger, and completely covered the patties without needing the extra to be torn off so you didn't have an extra whole loaf of bread. The American cheese was proportional for the burger, and tasty. The one let down was the shredded bag lettuce used, which was a bit wilted, and the two weak slices of tomato, but that may have been due to the time waited before burger consumption started, due to chowing down on those yummy rings. No pickles were noted. The amount of mayo was perfect. I will definitely be back. I should also state that I was able to bring half my burger home for later, because I was full. Edit: I should also add that service was very quick at the walk-up window at lunch today, and although I forgot to ask for no ice in my soda, I still got more soda...
Read moreWe have been coming to this location and the others in the valley for years. I always order the same thing a chicken teriyaki burger with the sauce on the side. When we got home we noticed that the burger had bacon on it and there was no teriyaki sauce on the side or even on it. We called the restaurant and we were told to come back and they would remake it. When we arrived we had to wait more time to speak to the cook directly for some reason and when he came to the window he was very hostile and told me that "He does not make mistakes" and proceeded to open the burger and went ingredient by ingredient putting his fingers through the sandwich and said "See that's what's on the chicken teriyaki burger your talking about the aloha burger". He then told me that I could not get a remake. He then also got upset with the wonderful young lady working in the window. Saying you talk to them I don't know over and over that's what they ordered. The young lady at the window was very empathetic and understanding and we thank her for her kindness tonight. She said she could get him to remake one but at that point we were so upset and I was shaking and about to cry so we decided to just get a refund. We also called the other location just to verify the ingredients in the teriyaki chicken teriyaki burger and it was wrong after all. I can't believe this happened we've never had a problem but we definitely...
