This is my last semester at the Verve. I cannot stand the constantly filled trash rooms, or the fact that though I've submitted multiple noise complaints to the neighbor downstairs (who plays their music so loud that I can feel it when I'm working at my desk) and it seems that there is no genuine repercussion for them besides 'turn it down', to which they just resume ten minutes after 'security' arrives. I say that with air quotes, because I feel like the security are good, upstanding people, and they really do help, but they're simply outnumbered, and they have no leeway when giving discipline. I like to regard myself as a patient person who can handle a lot of annoyances and not complain, but when I can feel the vibrations in my bed, at my desk (where I'm studying and trying to concentrate), but good God, it is like people don't care about how loud they are here.
People sprint down the hallways constantly, have literal screaming contests, they shout at each other from down the hallways, and they are absolutely destructive. It's a zoo here, and I genuinely dreaded come back here for my next semester. Everyone who works here has been kind, and easy to work with, and they have also gotten rid of the fire alarm issue from last year, but I think there needs to be more in the way of security. The doors, the fire exit signs, smoke detectors, et cetera are almost always damaged from other residents, and even after getting replaced, they just get ripped from the ceiling/wall. Police have been here after hours several times, for what I'm not sure, but honestly I wasn't surprised.
Overall, the place itself was nice; when everyone first moved in last year, this place looked fantastic. But it's been stepped on, curb stomped, and mangled by it's own residents and from people who don't even live here. Even if it is a loud minority here who are like that, it is crazy that this is just being tolerated. So yes, the Verve is a really nice apartment building, with great amenities, but for students who genuinely need to study--- and yes, people shout and disregard the fact that the study pods are study pods--- I would certainly not recommend coming here. There are so many people here who are saying the exact same things I'm saying, just click the one-star reviews. I can handIe having cheap hinges on my cabinets, but I can't handle people having zero regard for others or having any consideration/respect for the place that they live in. And again, it's not everyone who is like this, but it is constant and frustrating to see, hear, feel, and deal with on a regular basis. I most definitely will not be coming back, and I'd advise for the management to get a hold over it's own residents. That is the number one issue with this place. I hope this helps potential residents make their decision, as well as the Verve.
Oh, and I didn't want to say this is case I was misinterpreting what I'd seen/heard, but seeing other reviews mention it as well I feel more comfortable saying it now. I have been given emails from the Verve such that I and other residents would receive rewards for posting five-star reviews on Google, like fifty bucks at Starbucks, gift cards, and so on. I would not trust any of the five star reviews on here, because the good parts I have already mentioned, along with other one-star reviews. The Verve itself is appealing; a pool, study pods, elevators, everything seems nice in the pictures, but all of that is shat out the ass when you have idiots punching holes into the wall, breaking fire exit signs (which I don't even understand, why destroy the instruments meant to save our lives?), kicking elevator buttons and making them malfunction, and a plethora of other pointlessly destructive/annoying behaviors.
Edit: I would like to add a footnote here to say that the owners and the team of/at the Verve are extremely kind-hearted, genuine, and hard-working people. I have the utmost respect for them, and my issue is more so with the community they have to babysit than the...
Read moreI would not recommend this building to anyone, ever. In my experience, Verve has good reviews because they offer gift card incentives for tenants to write reviews. After move out on July 31st you can see plenty of 1 star reviews roll in, providing a more accurate representation of this living experience. Verve will reply to negative reviews with the same automated message about how we "didn't get the opportunity to meet their new team." The staff turnover is so high and frequent, I don't even know what they mean by "new team" when it appears there is a mostly new staff every few months. Here are my thoughts after living here.
Horrible maintenance and unsanitary practices-- there was constantly beer all over walls and landings on staircases covered in beer, it would go weeks without getting cleaned up if ever, sometimes there would be what appeared to be urine in hallways and on staircase landings, just disgusting lack of cleanliness in shared spaces. Fire alarms went off constantly in the middle of the night for the first several months. Doors and key faubs worked only about half the time, when I mentioned this to maintenance they said they've had repair people look at the doors and key scanners and nothing was wrong with them despite the fact that doors wouldn't open and key faubs didn't turn the scanner green as they should. Unsafe and unwelcoming environment -- I once took the stairs instead of the elevator when some creepy older men who definitely were not tenants were hauling giant totes full of beer up the elevator, when they saw me at the top of the staircase they started yelling and harassing me. I reported this to front desk staff immediately and the two boys working said "yeah, haha, I think there's a big party happening tonight." I emphasized that these people had harassed me and made me feel unsafe and the staff just shrugged at me. In my opinion staff does not care about the safety or wellbeing of tenants. Excess drinking most of which is underage. This is a college building and drinking is to be expected to some degree, but this building's staff allows completely unchecked drug and alcohol use to go on constantly which led to physical fights breaking out in hallways with drunk partygoers, partiers setting off fire alarms for the whole building in the middle of the night because they were smoking in their apartment, drunk people ripping exit signs out of the ceiling, drunk people wandering hallways and knocking on doors just to mess with people in the middle of the night. Staff can't answer any questions, office hours change frequently, even when you go in during office hours there will often be no one at the front desk and sometimes even after waiting 20+ mins no one comes back to the desk to help. The front desk staff lost multiple of my packages despite having regular mailboxes AND electronic lockers for deliveries from Amazon, UPS, etc. Staff once had to check security cameras for me to see where packages ended up, despite the package being delivered at a time when staff WERE at the front desk and supposed to distribute my mail/packages to my mail box or a digital locker.
Spend your money elsewhere! I've lived in other student apts and this was by...
Read moreI have lived at Verve Boise in a 4-bedroom unit for three years, and my experience has been consistently frustrating due to poor management and lack of accountability. During my first year, there were repeated fire alarm issues that would wake residents up at 2 AM with no communication or explanation. The only attempt at “making it up” to residents was giving out donuts once, which felt dismissive given the disruption. In just three years, Verve has gone through at least three different management companies, never informing residents of the change until issues came up and then using “old management” as an excuse instead of taking responsibility. Most recently, I had issues with my parking. I was promised to keep my same spot upon renewal, but when I picked up my new garage key and fob, I was told there was no parking transponder for me. I was given a temporary one off the desk and was not told that my spot had changed. Because of this failure of communication, I spent two weeks coming home from work only to find someone else parked in what I thought was my assigned space. Each time, I had to go to the Verve team, who told me I would need to wait at least 15 minutes before the car could be moved. In reality, it took a minimum of 30 minutes just to park after a long workday—for two weeks straight. That is unacceptable and entirely avoidable had management simply communicated with me. When I finally addressed the issue, I was told my old spot was “compact” and that I’d been reassigned to a standard one. This was untrue my previous spot was not marked or sized as compact. Instead of owning the mistake, the front desk just gave excuses. The garage itself is poorly designed. My new assigned spot requires a three-point turn just to park, which even Verve staff have acknowledged. In fact, the leasing manager has told my roommate directly that the garage is designed poorly. If employees are admitting this, why are residents still left to deal with the consequences without solutions? Adding to the frustration, the wrong car is listed on my parking addendum. I called to fix it, was told it was corrected, but a week later it still wasn’t updated. Verve’s pattern of poor communication, broken promises, and refusal to take accountability has caused unnecessary stress and wasted time. After three years here, it’s clear that management is not interested in resolving issues, only in passing blame. I am sharing this review so prospective residents know what to expect. I honestly cannot recommend living here and would recommend looking at the...
