The Bolingbrook Sauce & Toss is new to the game, and they're already setting new standards across the board. Price? Competitive. Quality? Unmatched. Service? Exceptional. Flavor? Well as a new customer, I've only gotten to try a couple, but this place absolutely has the saaaauuuuce. Phenomenal. Dragon's Breath isn't for the faint of heart!
My new motto, "Eat 'em hot, eat 'em cold. Grab wings from Sauce & Toss, you'll be gold!"
This was almost a very different review after attempting to substitute my side order of fries on a 12 PC Combo with regular veggie sticks, as advertised to be possible on the lunch special. Might get lengthy with the breakdown, but there can be a lot to these little wings - Here's the total review:
The first employee taking my order brought his presumed supervising female elder over to the register to relay the desired substitution for what I thought was just finding the right buttons. She said this was not an option for the 12 piece, only the 6 piece, in a "you can buy less and get more, or buy more and get less" sort of way.
To my understanding, the assumed supervisor told me I would have to buy both sides to get my preferred choice, instead of even simply up-charging for the switch-out, to which I tried to make clear that if she couldn't make the substitution then I would be walking away.
There did appear to be a slight language or understanding barrier throughout this experience.
She shook her head no, so I stormed out the door, leaving an expletive in my stead since I was hungry and very excited to try some new wings. Still not excusable behavior, especially in front of the family with children standing right there, albeit their presence a surprise to me.
Starting the process of leaving a shorter, much nastier review, I took photographs of the building and menu stating, 'fries OR veggie sticks' on an available item. Later, another customer confided in me that this is when she spoke up to staff about a probable negative review.
Seeing the first employee, who we can call #1, enter a phone call, I spent a few minutes writing the brief summation of my first visit to S'N'T while standing towards the restaurant from the parking lot. #1 came outside and crossed the street to talk to me after ending his call.
First, he asked me very genuinely why I was mad enough to leave a bad review. I tried to explain how asinine it seemed to be forced into ordering two different side dishes instead of just buying the one side desired and paying any difference, especially when it's possible to switch the side items on different combos.
That tells me it's in the system, so don't tell me it can't be done. Next, he asked if I left a bad review already, and I showed him the Work in Progress.
He understood and told me if I didn't leave the negative review, he could make the switch, to which we reached agreement. Shook the hand of #1, opened the door for him, and got back in line to wait behind the handful of customers I had just been in front of.
The female, who we can call #2, pulled me to the register next to #1 to try taking my order again, needing clarification just once more about my choice of side. She even asked if I would like my sauce separate, which was actually a really awesome suggestion, and a first for me. In this economy, $20 for 12 decent wings, a regular side and bottled soda is insanely fair.
Spending 10/15 minutes total wait in my vehicle, I sat at a table and conversed with other guests for the remaining 5 until #1 brought me my food in a paper bag, handles twisted tight with a neatly stapled promo handout. Wearing a big smile, he started asking for a favor, and I was hurriedly interjected that they'd get a good review now, as long as the wings deserved them. #1 told me no, no, he wanted a quality review.
Here's my best, man, sorry I didn't catch your name, for interrupting you, and for cursing in your restaurant. Thank you for the happy belly, the lesson in humility, and for the fire I'll be releasing sometime tomorrow! You're truly #1! Character limit is about to...
Read moreI tried this place for the first time on Sat 9/30/23. It was really good. So much so that I went back on Sunday 10/1/23. The customer service is stellar and very refreshing for this area. The employees could tell it was my first time. They were very helpful in thoroughly explaining the menu and what they offered. I really appreciated that their employees were knowledgeable about the business. The guy at the counter explained that all the sauces are made in-house. I had a question about the flavor of some of the sauces, and he allowed me to sample a few options. This made ordering much easier.
Though I sampled a few sauces, the Moonshine BBQ sauce stood out. IT WAS AMAZING. The employee recommended this, and I am glad he did. I think it might be the best sauce there.
I tried the garlic parmesan wings. Those were not very good. The flavor of the chicken was bland and lacking seasoning. Also, it appeared to only have parmesan sprinkled on the wings, but no garlic. I didn’t get any garlic flavor.
Onion rings are good and worth trying. The fresh cut fries are great as well.
Cheese Sauce: It would have benefited from a more intense cheese flavor and being thicker. The cheese sauce was too thin. The taste was good overall.
Ranch Sauce: Overall, it was ok, but it didn’t add anything to the wings or fries. They might need to reconsider their ranch recipe.
The Signature Sauce was great. I used this on my fries, onion rings, and garlic parm wings (because again, they didn’t have much flavor). I don’t know what is in the Signature Sauce, but you can put it on anything. It is really good!
Overall, I am glad to have another great chicken spot in the neighborhood. I will surely be a repeat customer for the fries, Moonshine BBQ wings, and the...
Read moreIf you're looking for an alternative to Wingstop and Buffalo Wild Wings, come here and you will not be disappointed! I wanted wings and decided to see if there was another place to go besides the main two wing spots. Saw this place and the reviews and decided to give it a try. I'm glad I did. The wings are big, fried well and very saucy. I got Dragon Breath and Cajun sauces. Dragon Breath is spicy, but if you're a regular spice eater, it won't bother you. The Cajun is a tad less flavorful than Wingstop's, but it's still very good. I also got Garlic Parm fries and Fried Pickles, the pickles were the star, fried to perfection and they add a spicy ranch kinda sauce with it and it's incredible, while the fries are not to be denied of their goodness and flavor. If they continue to make their food like that, they got a regular customer in me for a long time! The service was awesome as well, the lady greets you when you come in and you can tell that she really wants to help you with whatever questions you have. Seriously, go check this place out, they give the other two wing spots some serious...
