I recently had the pleasure of enjoying a work lunch at DeRomo's Restaurant, located in the Promenade at Bonita Bay, a high-end shopping center in Bonita Springs. DeRomo's offers a sophisticated dining atmosphere that sets it apart from other establishments in Southwest Florida. With a warm and inviting café, an open-style kitchen, and a luxurious outdoor dining area, this restaurant truly provides a unique dining experience.
Upon entering DeRomo's, I was immediately struck by the friendly and professional front of house staff. They were prompt, attentive, and knowledgeable, ensuring that every aspect of the dining experience was well taken care of. Their quick service and polite demeanor added to the overall enjoyment of the meal.
The highlight of DeRomo's Restaurant undoubtedly lies in its exceptional food quality. Having dined here twice for lunch, I can confidently say that both experiences were outstanding. The menu boasts a range of Italian dishes, from innovative and decadent entrees to comforting classics and traditional favorites. On my visits, I had the pleasure of trying the lasagna and the chicken parm with Caesar salad. Both dishes were prepared with fresh ingredients, resulting in vibrant flavors that delighted the senses. Each bite was a testament to the chef's skill and attention to detail. The presentation was pleasing to the eye, and the aromas wafting from the plates were simply irresistible.
What sets DeRomo's apart is its commitment to providing authentic Italian cuisine at a reasonable price. The flavors are reminiscent of Italy, transporting diners on a culinary journey. It's evident that the chefs at DeRomo's take pride in their craft, as each dish is prepared with care and precision.
One thing to note is that DeRomo's Restaurant is usually quite busy, especially during the peak season. Therefore, I highly recommend making reservations in advance to secure a table and avoid any disappointment.
It's also worth mentioning that DeRomo's has an adjoining market where you can find high-end Italian prepared foods, pizza, wines, and a selection of grocery items. They even offer beautifully crafted Italian-themed gift baskets, which make for thoughtful presents.
In conclusion, DeRomo's Restaurant in Bonita Springs offers a delightful dining experience. From the prompt and attentive front of house staff to the exceptional food quality, every aspect of the restaurant exudes sophistication and a commitment to excellence. If you're in the mood for authentic Italian cuisine at a reasonable price, DeRomo's is the place to go. Just remember to make a reservation, especially...
Read moreI had high expectations for DeRomo’s as my family frequents the restaurant quite often. I went with my mother for the first time on Friday afternoon at 3pm. When we reached the hostess stand we were asked if we wanted happy hour or dinner (kind of surprising since it was 3pm and we were more in the mood for lunch). Anyways we asked to look at both menus since we were not told that happy hour and dinner are different. The hostess left us with one dinner menu and walked away, never even allowing us to see a happy hour menu. Leaving us just standing there. An older hostess woman approached us and asked us the same question (still we did not know there was a difference). Anyways, she proceeded to take us outside and noticed all the seats at the bar and apparently “happy hour tables” were full. We then realized from that that happy hour is separate from dinner, which is completely understandable.. however we had no idea. The older hostess woman then pointed to a dining table and literally said “do you want this table or what?” Completely rude. She sat us with ONE menu, and left. Our server was nice and we were fine with choosing something off of the dinner menu. We made our selections and literally 5 minutes after we received the bread, our ravioli, salad, and carpaccio came out. It was as if we were being completely rushed. I would understand if it was packed and busy. But it was 3pm on a Friday afternoon. It was the LEAST bit relaxing and honestly it was a stressful experience. We were never given the features and perhaps the restaurant should clarify their lunch/happy hour/dinner times and make the customer feel more welcomed. As someone who’s been in the restaurant business for a long time, I understand that it gets stressful BUT I also know that the front of house staff (hostesses) set the tone and should inform customers what’s going on. The dessert and cappucino was really good and I do intend on visiting again for a better experience because I do understand that mistakes happen.. plus the outdoor patio was beautiful for a relaxing day. Hopefully better...
Read moreStarted with the sausage and broccoli rabe appetizer- sausage was thinner than you would expect but good flavor, the broccoli rabe was very wet and soggy.
Had the bone in veal parmigiana special- it was good veal but overly breaded and the spaghetti was undercooked. The tomato sauce lacks authenticity and flavor. After, years of trying mom and pop Italian places this place appears to be elite but sadly only the price and location is elite.
My Father has the chicken parmigiana- and his response was it tastes like something from eat’n park so that should tell you all you need to know.
My mom had the homemade ravioli which she loved, however neither of them liked the meatball.
I’m not from Fort Meyers, but for all of you locals you can find better for probably less so save your Pensions, retirement funds, and 401ks and try something that might taste more like what Italy has to offer.
Finally, I finished the meal with the house made chocolate mousse- it comes between two pieces of a thin flaky croissant. It wasn’t anything to right home about. It had chocolate sauce on it which takes away from the mousse and to be honest the mousse lacked richness. My preference is a darker mousse, and the portion is smaller and only two berries.
They should also give some of the Italian oil they sell in the store for the bread
The one positive was our waiter Midley who did a wonderful job serving us and describing the dishes. He was a joy to have and he deserves kudos for his work.
We enjoyed the market which was very nicely laid out and reasonable prices.
Spoke with the owner and he was super friendly and invited me back to try it again, but I was unable to do so. It was refreshing to see an owner ask about the experience and food to see what could’ve been the issue and to resolve it. I bumped my rating to 3 stars because I was truly impressed by his kindness and professionalism. I promise if I ever return to the area to give it another shot and provide a...
