My dining companion's description of the experience was that it wasn't horrible, just tasteless. Sadly I think that was generous.
The positive, the waffles 🧇were light and fluffy, sadly I think it was because they left out the taste. Without whipped cream and strawberries 🍓or the table supplied flavored syrup that can't be real 🍁 maple syrup but a processed and flavor extract or the $1 buffalo sauce for the chicken nuggets, it would have had only the flavor of fluffy flour.
If you've ever had real chicken and waffles or a great fruit topped Belgium waffle I advise you to skip this experience. You'll leave feeling like a monkey that was tricked out of $30+20% minum tip, with only water for drinks. When orange juice costs half the price of the daily fruit waffle special and you are pushing t-shirt and coffee mugs at the door, what do you expect? While most give them avg 4.5⭐ I guess they have never had a great chicken and waffles experience or a decent Belgium waffle from anywhere. Sorry, I will pass and get some chicken nuggets at the wholesale club, some decent frozen waffles, a jug of flavored grocery store syrup, a can of whipped cream and some fresh strawberries and make my own. It's likely to taste better, cost less and serve more than 2 meals.
I was expecting something like a religious 💒 experience in the waffles of someplace that's primarily selling waffles and had it in the name. The service was sad and not attentive.
Visiting any monkey enclosure comes with risk, enjoy being...
Read moreWeekly Date Day #8. My wife and I visit a different, local, (Bonita & Naples) restaurant each weekend and post an honest review of our experience and of the food. We ate outside because it was a bit too noisy inside to talk. I had the Easy Cheesy which is loaded with Ham & Cheese and topped with herb butter & parmesan. They were out of Ham so I opted for bacon instead. My wife had the Egg & Bacon. We weren't really impressed with the waffles. The insides were a bit doughy (uncooked) and the bacon on the side of both of ours was overcooked and crumbled in our mouths instead of being nice and chewy as it should be. The fresh-squeezed OJ was tasty but, I prefer mine without ice so I can enjoy it full-strength and get a full glass of it. Be sure to tell them Ice or no ice when ordering your juice. Overall, the restaurant itself was nice and clean and the staff was super friendly. Since this is a new (to the area) restaurant, I guess we expected a little more bang for the buck ($50 for our 2 waffles & juice with tip) and for the waffles to be spot-o as Bonita really needs some excellent places to eat. I'm hoping they improve over time as we'd like to give it another shot. We'll see. Stay tuned for next...
Read moreI was hesitant to believe that the waffles here would be worth the drive past a few different well-known breakfast spots; I’m a big fan of two nearby for different reasons. I genuinely thought it was worth the trip for the waffle; I had the Salty Pig. I returned to try the Gluten-Free waffle. Tasted just as delicious. I also tried their Sausage & Egg Sandwich (scrambled with cheese), and have since returned four times in two weeks for an egg sandwich. Something about that grill taste on the sausage. I’m used to a large patty, but loving the triple links they use. Those NY/NJ/Northeast folks missing a solid egg sandwich ON A GOOD ROLL, look no further than Waffle Monkey. They threw salt, pepper, and ketchup on there for me last time, but it’s honestly amazing plain. Order ahead, and it’s a quick pick up, NE corner of Bonita Beach Road and Old 41. If you’re doing a waffle, do it there, but I have also done a waffle to go! They have a full menu of espresso drinks as well. Enjoy it before the line is out the...
