I have only once eaten at a donut shop where my daughter threw her donuts into the trash. This was that place. We eat donuts every Sunday. It started when I was a kid and now passed down to my kids. We have eaten donuts at a thousand different places over the years. So, when I say my daughter hated the donuts that says something. They were cold and stale like bagels. I threw mine out. KrispyKreme is a thousand times better, and while I never thought I would ever utter these words.....Dunkin is better. (I cringe just writing that.) The best donut shop in the entire US comes from Shipley's. It started in Houston and has grown to all over Texas, and nearby states. There is one in Sarasota. Go check it out and you will see what I mean. You can watch them make donuts in the mornings while you order, and I mean by hand not machine. Every store has a line inside waiting for donuts. The price is cheaper than anything in the country. A donut is just 99 cents. We really need a good donut shop in Southwest Florida. Timmy Horton's is also a thousand times better...
Read moreThese are the very best donuts we have ever had. Whenever we come to town, the 1st morning, we get a dozen of all different kinds. So big and fresh, amazing texture, almost overly satisfying. Scrumptious. Just yummy sounds and sighs across the table by everyone. UNDERSTAND, this is not a posh bakery, nor a open-all-day place. It's a total throwback, aesthetically. It does not look 'new' inside. You may have to wait in a line. Service is fine but not great. When they sell out of donuts, they close up shop. Accept these parameters and you are going to donut heaven, my friends. My son and I incredulously read some of the one-star reviews. Guess what? They all ate MULTIPLE donuts. They just like to complain. I got cake balls in Dallas for a party once. I confided with the owner that one of their reviews was quite scathing. She said, "Yep. Here comes that reviewer. She's our best customer." So there you go. Get up early and load up on THE BEST...
Read moreKentucky residents and we’re in town on our fourth trip down here to SWFL. We’ve grown to love the area and have always drove by the building, but haven’t ever stopped in. We decided to give it a try this time around. We may be a bit spoiled with the amount of options we have back home - consider us doughnut snobs.. We had high expectations going in based off of some of the reviews and were a bit let down as we were comparing them to some of our hometown favorites. Overall the presentation and size of the doughnuts were great, but they are a bit too dense and not airy enough for our liking. Some of our family favorites are Franks Donuts in Georgetown, KY / Moonrise Doughnuts in Covington, KY / Bailey Jaynes in Walton, KY and Emerson’s Bakery in Florence, KY. Would highly recommend checking these places out if anyone is ever driving through or visiting the...
