Ben's Espresso — Restaurant in Bonney Lake

When I first went here the barista was so nice that my goal became to try everything on their menu eventually. Their drinks are very sweet but the taste is not bad for those who like sweets. However, unfortunately I will not be returning. My second visit when I went to order several drinks for my group of friends to try and I recommended this place to them, she was not too friendly and I just thought maybe she's having a bad day and didn't think much of it. Third time I went, I got a cake pop. Beware of the cakepops and possibly other things, idk. It had a obvious mold under the coating. I took one bite and had to spit it out after seeing the mold. I was late to an event but I went back in to tell them so that other people dont get the same thing (honestly if I had felt that the lady was friendly I prob would have just thrown out and not even go back, but she wasnt). She stared at it for like 5 seconds just to brush me off and come to the conclusion that "I don't know if that is a mold. Well you could just take another cakepop. They've only been out there for a week." Excuse me? First of all, it was so obviously a mold that you did not have to stare for so long to realize that it is a mold. Second, no I do not want another potentially moldy cakepop. I just took one since I was late to something and was in a rush but ended up being skeptical and throwing out most of it. I think they are potentially nice people but I just did not like the way this was handled. Hopefully they did the right thing by throwing out all the ones that were made around the same time. It was supposed to be a reward for my long day, but it only added to it. I had a similar situation at starbucks before and they had definitely handled it a lot better, ended up with a 5 star review, and that was without me even having to take any free compensation from them. This is an adorable, small walk in espresso place attached to the Ben Franklins craft store. Today was mine and my daughter’s first time, and we both said that we love that you could walk in, they have a great variety of yummy delicious treats, and great prices. We saw local homemade cookies, muffin tops, cake pops, bags of chips and granola bars, etc. I’m not an avid coffee drinker so I got the orange juice creamsicle with whip cream and it was so good! My daughter got a strawberry Italian soda and she was very happy with it! I also tried the chocolate banana bread and it was so yummy.

One thing that I think really sets them apart is they have a daily thing they do everyday based off this calendar, so for example on Wednesday’s they have something where you roll a dice and win a prize. On another day, you can come in and upgrade the size of your drink for free. This made my daughter and I want to come in often, because that’s just so fun!

After an extensive taste testing at local coffee shops, my husband and I decided Ben's was our go to. With delicious coffee and awesome baristas, it wasn't long before we'd come so frequently that we hit V.I.P. status.
