TERRIBLE NEW OWNER (turned good, thanks to “corporate”): For many, many years, the Boone McDonald’s was owned by a local family of courteous, respectful folks. Once, about 15 years ago, a mistake was made in the adjustment of the McDonald’s parking lot lights, causing them to be an intrusion into an historic family neighborhood behind the restaurant. When some of the neighborhood residents brought the problem to the attention of the previous owners, they kindly apologized, and promptly fixed the light adjustments. Last year, the patriarch of this fine family passed away, and the matriarch recently sold the franchise. The new owner replaced the parking lot lightbulbs with very bright LEDs, and the same adjustment mistake was made as before, causing an even worse problem in the neighborhood because of the brighter bulbs. When the new general manager was contacted about the problem, she was very pleasant and courteous, and recommended that the residents meet the new owners and request that they correct the problem. The residents tried for several days to catch the new owners in the restaurant, and when the residents were finally able to contact the man by phone, he was discourteous and disrespectful, saying that he didn’t have time to meet the residents, and had already decided that he wasn’t gonna do anything about the problem until it was convenient for him to make the light adjustments while he was doing some painting in the spring. He said that the residents would HAVE TO wait until spring. The neighborhood did not HAVE TO wait, since the owner was in violation of town ordinances with the incorrectly adjusted lights. When the Boone Planning and Inspection Department was made aware of the problem, they said that they would notify the owner, and that HE would HAVE TO correct the problem within five days or be fined. Ironically, if the new owner hadn’t been so disrespectful, and just asked nicely if it would be OK with the residents to wait until spring for him to make the adjustments, the residents would have agreed to wait, because they are kind, courteous, local people. I don’t know where this disrespectful new owner came from, but it is very unfortunate that he now owns the Boone McDonald’s. Update: Town of Boone Planning and Inspection Department has, so far, FAILED (as they have a history of doing, when it comes to family neighborhoods) to take any action to require the lights be adjusted (two months, so far, in undisputed violation), so we simply made a call to the McDonald’s 800 customer service number (as we should have done to start with) and like magic, the lights were adjusted right away, and the new owner is now a cooperative and courteous friend of the neighborhood. I guess Adam Smith was...
Read moreWhere to even begin with this McDonalds... never in all my years have I been to a McDonalds that was so disastrously awful. I would give it less than 1 star if I could. The wait was awful, which is something that is not completely unexpected with it being one of the few fast food places in the area. They ran out of a toy that is a major part of the meal- again, expected with the meal's popularity and newness.
What absolutely is not acceptable, however, is the fact that after an hour of waiting on my meal I never received it. I understand that working in customer service is difficult, I have worked in it before, but when you are shown proof of a purchase by somebody (who you have made eye contact with multiple times over the past hour as they waited) and asked if you can see if their order has been made because they are concerned somebody had taken it... absolutely unacceptable.
The two people who had ordered right ahead of me, the same thing mind you, both received their food. I was never able to get an answer on if my meal was being made or if it had been set out and taken and ended up having to just leave. It had been an hour of barely an answers and I had other things to do so I could not sit around all day waiting on food I wasn't sure would ever come.
I spent my hard earned money that could have gone towards numerous other things on a meal with a toy relating to a childhood game for a small slice of good in my month. Money I will never be able to get back. To make matters worse, i was hardly even acknowledged when I tried to ask if there was anything whatsoever to be done. I would have appreciated at least an apology or attempt to correct the situation, but this McDonalds and its employees were unable to do either one.
The only good thing about this McDonalds is that it was next to a Wendy’s that actually managed to give me the...
Read moreHonestly, if it weren't for the customer service you get at this restaurant then this place would be amazing! But the service is horrible so that makes the atmosphere horrible. Besides the decent customers. Some customers are friendly and some are way too friendly. It's honestly invading. But, the customer service is one of the worst I've ever seen and I'm not sure if it's just over worked employees where they don't have enough employees most of the time or if it's because of the northern type of attitudes they have especially one particular employee which is absolutely rude 99.9% of the time and I at least go to this particular McDonald's 2 times a month. But the store is nice and only sometimes it's dirty. But they at least try and keep it clean. The parking lot is decent as well but they probably could use more spaces. The drive through is always wrapped around the building and when I come in I don't like to use the drive through. I like to dine in and a lot of times they make me walk around to the drive through window because they won't open the doors for guest to come in and dine. Since Boone is a walkable city I drive to Boone and walk around most of the time. Do shopping or go to the Dr, office and shop. And so I like to stop in and start my day with McDonald's. But a lot of times I have to sit outside in the cold and walk around the drive through just to get a sandwich and most times it takes a long time. This place needs help and I believe the issues are inside with lack of employees and how the employees that they do have only have so much in them and they're worn out and rude...
