Waffle House — Restaurant in Boone

No stars. Congratulations! You get the award for the absolute worst restaurant in Boone, NC! No wifi Pepper that barely comes out like Waffle House is trying to keep you from using too much. The smallest possible napkins ever. Go to Troy's Diner if the hours are btwn 7am and 11pm The bathrooms at this Waffle House are like National Forest bathrooms with toilet paper on those little vertical spindle things. There are no paper towels, not even a dispenser. An air dryer that was slightly warm at best and lasted 5 seconds at a time. Not busy at all. Not understaffed. I'd hate to see what it's like when this place is actually busy. No water Took 10 min to get coffee and another 5 minutes to get creamer. Unnattentive server Destiny. Waited 10 minutes to order food even tho it was slow, and I had already told her that I was ready to order. Took another 5 minutes after my food had been on the bar to get silverware, and I had to ask the Cook/Manager??? (who was usually on his phone) for the silverware because I was getting the run around from Destiny again. Cook/Manager??? not even wearing a name tag (smaller, shorter white guy with short brown hair) and bragging in front of customers how he can kick customers out if Destiny wants him to. Pathetic The truth is that this particular "slightly raucous"table had probably just experienced the same trash service that I was also receiving. Destiny bragged openly in front of customers how she gave them the "shut down" as in be quiet or get out. Destiny was constantly saying she'd be right back and then taking care of other customers when it was not busy at all. 1 sec to Destiny equals 5 to 10 minutes when it was not busy at all. I waited another 5 minutes to pay my bill even tho she was doing absolutely nothing at the time. I'm pretty sure that I paid for gravy that I definitely never received. Sub-par limited menu food as always. Fatty undrained greasy bacon. Cold grits with no butter brought out way too early before the rest of my food. Inside atmosphere way too cold as always. I've heard from other former employees that they keep it super cold inside like that because it's more comfortable behind the bar for the employees. Go to Troy's Diner if at all possible people! Waffle House has gone way downhill these days, and I will never be back to the Boone, NC Waffle House unless I can absolutely help it. What a joke of an establishment, and it wasn't even busy. The overall manager of this place should be fired and replaced. I'm not one to typically leave bad reviews, and I usually tip heavy, especially at places like this, but I couldn't, in all truth, rationalize more than a 5% tip. Sorry, Destiny I guess learn to do your job better. Adopt a "server" attitude and not an "I control this situation" attitude. If you make guests wait when you are "chit-chatting" with another table while other guests have already told you they are ready to order, then you will forever get teeny tiny tips. I didn't want to tip at all to be completely honest. Silverware should come out with the food, and the creamer should come with the coffee. It shouldn't take 10-15 minutes to order food after someone says they're ready. It shouldn't take 15 minutes to get coffee and creamer. Take peoples orders asap when they say they are ready. This place was not busy!!! If people are ready to order or waiting on something that they already asked you for, then don't busy yourself with dishes and receipts and studying the menu. I'll say it one last time, this place wasn't even busy! I've been a server before, and this was trash service with sub-par food as a punishment for deciding to come here. Total disappointment, really. That's why I don't come to Waffle House anymore if I can help it. No stars. Worst restaurant in Boone ever, except for the local jail, lol. Go to Troy's Diner only 2 minutes away if at all possible. This is not an advertisement for Troy's. This is the truth. Words to the wise. Avoid this place at all costs. You will absolutely regret it.

Warning !!! IF YOU ARE AFRICAN , BLACK , DONT EAT HERE. BECAUSE THEY REFUSE TO COOK FOR YOU. I DROVE 15 MIN to GET THERE PEOPLE ARE EATING TWO PEOPLE AT THE BAR AND FOUR AT A TABLE.. THE RESTAURANT WAS EMPTY AT 1:58 AM THEY SAY THERE CLOSED WILL REOPEN AT 6 OR 7 THAT THE GRILL WAS CLOSED. I LEFT OUT THE DOOR ONLY TO RETURN TO SHOW THEM THAT ONLINE IT SHOWS OPEN AND 24 HOUR SERVICE. WHEN I WALK BACK INSIDE THE COOK IS PUTTING STEAK AND HASHBROWNS ON THE GRILL AFTER 4 or 5 MIN AGO SAYING THEY WERE CLOSED. I'm a diabetic woke up with low blood sugar and went into town 15 min drive at 2am to get food and was refused... denied service told they were closed. No close sign on the door of any kind. And the grill was full of food cooking when I re-entered the store the second time.Didnt ask what I was ordering they never ask well he is cooking can we fix you something quick, something simple not even a piece of toast. Not to mention I cooked at WAFFLE house many years ago. And I assure you this isn't right when I went back in the 2nd time They told me the food he was preparing was for 2 people who were waiting for one hour and forty five min was a lie. The resturant was 98 percent empty. Two people he was just starting to put meat on the grill and the table with 4 people had just got there food because i glanced at there plates as i entered the first time. Plates were steming hot and full of food. There were no people in the parking lot leaving. So they had just orderd food guessing. 10 min before i walked in and the 2 at the bar had just placed there order. They were liars. I wasnt served because of the color...

When I think about our recent visit to the Waffle House restaurant, in Boone, NC, I think of the words: • EXCELLENCE in customer service! • SUPERSEDED our expectations! • GREAT food for a GREAT price!!! It was after midnight this week that myself, my elderly Mom and my youngest 14 yo son visited WH... We had a really unfortunate incident earlier that evening w/ my SUV tire going flat and having to call our roadside assistance to come help us... Hours later, the assistance finally came and not before a kindhearted gentleman stopped and together he and I changed it! Thanks to my Daddy, who passed away three years prior, for teaching me how to chk oil, change a battery and change a tire CORRECTLY! There we sat, the tire finally changed and with (3) very hungry and empty bellies, and not a place to eat this late, other than Wendy’s and WH... We chose WH and we are SO GLAD we did! The customer service was amazing... The waitress to the cook were so professional! The restaurant was VERY CLEAN and the staff were ALL neatly dressed and well groomed, which a great deal of other WH locations all through NC and SC aren’t! To be a college and tourist town and all, it was a refreshing and welcomed evening to eat here... Check them out! You will NOT be...
