Haley & Bear American Bistro — Restaurant in Boscawen

We went to Haley and Bear for the first time last Saturday night. We were happy to see it was pretty busy for a brand new restaurant. There is a lot to like about H&B, and a few things to work on. The atmosphere is very contemporary, and the decor is tasteful and attractive. Because of the rooms small size, the ambient noise volume was somewhat high. The hostess greeted us in a very friendly manner. Our servers were also very friendly, and eager to please us. My drink was not what I ordered, but our server took responsibility and promptly fixed it. The food was flavorful, but unfortunately, all of the protein was considerably overcooked. That included salmon, chicken, and a burger. It wasn’t just the temperature was missed, but they were overcooked to the point of being dried out. Chef needs to work on this. We had an incredible meal during our first visit to Haley & Bear. While there aren’t any vegan or gluten-free options on the set menu, they graciously offered to create a three-course option for us when we let them know in advance of our reservation. Others in our party enjoyed these dishes as well, and we all thoroughly enjoyed them. The mocktails were also outstanding. Overall, it was a great meal. I gave four stars for atmosphere only because the TVs were quite large, and from our booth as a party of four, they were both in front of us. Yay Concord for bringing in a fantastic new spot! Upon my first visit I was warmly greeted and have continued to have a great experience each time I’ve returned.
