If I could give it no stars I would. With close to 4K Google reviews, we took a chance to try this restaurant and we left so disappointed. The service was terrible, our server was slow and ignored us several times. After finally placing our order for appetizer, we waited a long time for her to come back and take our dinner order. We quickly finished the oysters and waited 30+ minutes for the food. Finally our server came over and said something happened and our food never got prepared so the kitchen is rushing it now. We waited again and the food finally came out. It was so nasty, everything tasted like freezer burn. The fried crawfish, okra, shrimp all tasted and smelled like freezer. We couldn’t finish our food and refused free dessert because we had no confidence this place would make anything taste good at this point. The decor seemed to be from 2003 and the whole place had that weird wet carpet smell. The server mentioned the manager would be coming by to apologize and he never showed up. I’ve seen him walking around playing on his phone constantly but never said anything. He himself did not look like he’s well kept and groomed. Let’s just say it’s not appetizing for a restaurant manager to look unkept and did not care. If you like this restaurant, keep on. If you can avoid it, avoid it at all costs.

There is a R and K in Lufkin that I used to frequent when I lived in east Texas. Restaurant was well lit despite all the dark colors. The booths were all clean and it smelled clean. And the food? The food was fantastic. Then there's the r and k in Shreveport. It's in the corner of an old strip mall, and has been here for decades. Which is fine and all but man, is it in need of a facelift. All the way around. Was greeted and said I was going to sit at the bar. They have a large bar area, but if you sit at the bar you have only one angle to watch a TV. And when eating solo TV is essential. At least for me. Bartender was great. Polite, accommodating, and checked on me multiple times. The food isn't the same. And maybe it's not a fair comparison. I'm using my experience from 15 years ago in a completely different town. The steak while good flavor was way overcooked. But at that point I didn't want to wait for another steak. I also hate food waste. Don't want to toss it because of me being picky. The Cajun potatoes was good, but very dry. Not how I remember that as well. Just overall it's dark, very dated, and needs some attention to bring it up to a nice restaurant. I know they have the capacity, use Lufkin for a reference. All that to say, I dont I'll find my way back here again. Cheers

We stopped here on our way to Georgia an had a close to closing meal, waiter was really cool , food was good .. on the way back from Georgia we did the same with a larger group .. the receptionist was the only thorn in the whole experience.. it was 45 min before closing- we had called at the last gas stop (90 miles before we arrived) to make sure they were ok with that many people that close .. said no problem come on .. she however actually said “are you serious?” .. so we were tired an said man this is already not a good sign but it’s late so here we go … the waitress was nice an just politely informed us we needed to order within a certain time an that to me was professional , friendly.. an helped everyone.. us to eat, them to close etc.. food was pretty good .. bread/hush puppies were hard but no biggy it was late .. everything we actually ordered was good , correct an we were really ok with them closing down around us so it felt like just a nice meal an light environment beyond the first encounter.. thanks for putting up with us an getting us fed 👍

I had the Sunday Brunch Menu which came with a 3 course variety selection of brunch items! I chose the crawfish Étouffé starter, Bayou Omelette, and beignets as my dessert. When I say this was the best R&K I have ever been to! I mean I’m from the south and have had all the spices and seasonings you can put in and on food. And sometimes folks in the south can either overdo it, or underdo it! For my palate this was the best crawfish Étouffée I have ever had! Seasoned to perfection and perfectly plated! The Bayou Omelette was spectacularly seasoned and filled with fresh crawfish, shrimp, and crab! It came some of the best home style potatoes I have ever had!

Now by this time I was sweating! lol thinking how can anyone eat all this! I have beignets coming. 😂😂😂 But I summoned all strength I had to at least try one. Not only did I eat one, I ate most of them! When I say this was the best beignets I have ever had! Cafe Du Nothing has absolutely Nothing on these beignets! They were airy on the inside and crispy crunchy on the outside!

This was one of the best meals I have had from start to finish in a long time! Perfectly seasoned from the first bite to the last! I have never had a reason to come this way, but now I do! lol

I had to let the Manager (Susan) know that I will be back for this again and will let her know if the standard they set falls off. I ate so fast I forgot to take...

First off we stood at the front for 5 mins before even approached. The only reason we didn't leave is because it was my bday and we wanted to try it. The warrior then takes another 5 mins to get to the table even with only 2 other tables occupied. He didn't say anything to us just had a staring contest with us until my mom finally said "so you ready to take out order or what?" I got the ribeye steak with lump crab topping. The steak was chewy and I found a bunch of hard grizzle through out that could not be chewed. You could have fit all the crab meat topping in a teaspoon. My mom got the seafood platter and the catfish was not catfish but instead it was swai that people try to pass off as catfish. My dad got the fried oysters and he said they were cooked to death. Ready to leave we waited and waited for waiter to quit hiding in the back to get a to go plate. Then another 5+ min wait and he didn't bring the check so had to wait again and he tried to leave again but we told him to wait we can go ahead and pay out now we got stuff to do we can't wait forever for him to come back again. Definitely won't be back most of the stuff like shrimp and crab cakes came from swans anyway. I don't know how they get away calling this place Cajun. I guess if you hadn't ate Cajun before this would be the long John slivers of Cajun food. I'm fact I think I would have preferred...
