There is a R and K in Lufkin that I used to frequent when I lived in east Texas. Restaurant was well lit despite all the dark colors. The booths were all clean and it smelled clean. And the food? The food was fantastic. Then there's the r and k in Shreveport. It's in the corner of an old strip mall, and has been here for decades. Which is fine and all but man, is it in need of a facelift. All the way around. Was greeted and said I was going to sit at the bar. They have a large bar area, but if you sit at the bar you have only one angle to watch a TV. And when eating solo TV is essential. At least for me. Bartender was great. Polite, accommodating, and checked on me multiple times. The food isn't the same. And maybe it's not a fair comparison. I'm using my experience from 15 years ago in a completely different town. The steak while good flavor was way overcooked. But at that point I didn't want to wait for another steak. I also hate food waste. Don't want to toss it because of me being picky. The Cajun potatoes was good, but very dry. Not how I remember that as well. Just overall it's dark, very dated, and needs some attention to bring it up to a nice restaurant. I know they have the capacity, use Lufkin for a reference. All that to say, I dont I'll find my way back here again. Cheers

We stopped here on our way to Georgia an had a close to closing meal, waiter was really cool , food was good .. on the way back from Georgia we did the same with a larger group .. the receptionist was the only thorn in the whole experience.. it was 45 min before closing- we had called at the last gas stop (90 miles before we arrived) to make sure they were ok with that many people that close .. said no problem come on .. she however actually said “are you serious?” .. so we were tired an said man this is already not a good sign but it’s late so here we go … the waitress was nice an just politely informed us we needed to order within a certain time an that to me was professional , friendly.. an helped everyone.. us to eat, them to close etc.. food was pretty good .. bread/hush puppies were hard but no biggy it was late .. everything we actually ordered was good , correct an we were really ok with them closing down around us so it felt like just a nice meal an light environment beyond the first encounter.. thanks for putting up with us an getting us fed 👍

We were inna hurry so we went in and ordered 2 appetizers...I noticed the waitress (Alexis) started ignoring an avoiding my table...20 mins goes by, then 30 then 40 finally almost an hour goes by and I grabbing my keys an am about to leave when they decide to bring the food...i ask her did it no.ally tale an hour for an appetizer and she was like well their busy in the kitchen thats all I can tell you! And I said is that the customers fault tho? And as I was talking she was walking away! The food was horrible...gator was super dry, holiday sauce was coagulated, lettuce was wilted...I wont be back...I had a shirt on that clearly stated u was a veteran an as I walked out I told the hostess not to ever sit an apparent veteran in her space again...shes gonna catch the right one on the wrong day and they gonna snatch her rude self up...I will never go back in there again...the manager is a huge joke...I can't believe that's who they got running this so called 4 star restaurant!

I really like this place. I’ve been many times now and have enjoyed it every time. This is a big restaurant. I’ve only gone at lunchtime and it was never crowded. The lunch prices are fantastic for the amount of food you get. After ordering they bring you a basket of various yummy fresh breads to get started on. They are a treat! The first two times I was here I had the plate with a grilled catfish fillet and a fried catfish fillet covered with crawfish étouffée. As much as I have loved that dish, I forced myself to try something different this time. I ordered the Crawfish Special which is fried crawfish on a pile of fries plus crawfish étouffée over rice. It was a pile of food and I couldn’t finish all my fries. The PoBoys are good too! If you are ever in the Shreveport area, you owe it to yourself to give Ralph & Kacoo’s a try. The Cajun food and service are top notch. I’m ready for my next visit! 😊

I ate here for a birthday dinner. Our server name was Crystal, she was THE BEST!!!! I ordered the chicken breast with crawfish tails and sausage and the half Cajun baked potato. The baked was delicious. The chicken breast was not at all. The sauce on the chicken breat tasted as if it had been sitting in sour sauce. It had a very distinct taste and smell to it. The sausage looked like it was prepared for something else, and at the last minute, they decided to throw them on the plate. They gave us butter rolls and hush puppies prior to the food coming. They we good, a tad bit too buttery, but I wiped it off and proceeded to eat the roll. Everyone ordered drinks. There are no complaints on their drinks from the bar. HOWEVER, my grandma ordered a sweet tea. Let's just say her tea tasted funny due to her being given a dirty cup.

We came to the area for the Black Rodeo and wanted some good local food. The place wasn't packed and we were served relatively fast. Our table had the fried crawfish tails and boudain balls as appetizers and they were good. For my entree I had the Ruby that included grilled red fish topped with a crab cake and hollandaise sauce. I chose Cajun rice as my side but the other choices are a stuff baked potato or fries. My meal was very flavorful. The portion were large and I had to get a takeout box. I also ordered a frozen Hurricane that was very good. The drink was big with adequate amount of alcohol. They serve Coca-Cola products and the meals come with hush puppies and garlic rolls with were good too. Everyone at my table were satisfied with their meals.
