Carmella's Market... this place is TRULY a neighborhood gem. It is adorably old school Italian, run by family. The business supports other local businesses- using bread from A&L Bakery, selling slush from Slush King, featuring various items from their favorite restaurants and stores. Nick and family are so supportive of all of their fellow neighboring business owners, always wishing them success and not attempting to compete and bring someone down, but to truly find a place at the table for everyone.
In addition to supporting local business, Carmella's has been such a staple in the community. Nick and family offer discounts for law enforcement, for first responders, for teachers. He came through for me more times than I can count. He will help make any idea come to life and always went along with my ideas. I was the cochair of the School Parent Council at the Samuel Adams School for a number of years. Nick offered our staff special discounts, he would go out of his way to deliver an extra 2 foot sub when I told him how quickly the food was going at a staff event... he came through for us when I asked for gluten free bread for our teachers with gluten allergies... he brought my little vision of personal charcuterie boards to life. Nick was always a pleasure to work with.
In addition to being such a big help with my events at school, my kids love Carmella's. The kids and their friends would beg to go to Carmella's after school for slush. The walk to Carmella's was so much easier for us than walking to Slush King and Nick got his slush from Slush King. My oldest was always so excited to get a fresh sub at Carmella's, and my picky little guy would always find a bag of chips, drink or candy to suit his needs. Nick pretty much always slid in a random treat for the kids on the house.
Carmella's has old fashioned "penny candy", Italian groceries, hand stuffed peppers, freshly made meatballs, sauce, cutlets... everything is made with love and is so fresh... just like Nonni would make. Such an old school Italian feel. I love their Italian sub. And they appease me and put lettuce on mine even though that's not traditional. LOL I also LOVE their turkey sub. And really any sub. I just like their food. I don't like peppers but I've purchased the stuffed peppers for my family members for Christmas gifts and they LOVED them.
Anyway... I guess I am saying Carmella's is a wonderful place. I hope they are in business for many many decades. They do an amazing job and I'm so proud of how far...
Read moreI use to live right around the corner from this place and went there at least once a week. Then I moved about two miles away and started going there mainly in the summer on my bike. The sandwiches are good but the service has declined in my opinion. I have gone there multiple times recently and they've been out of ingredients to make certain sandwiches. I was just there today at about fifteen minutes until close and the guy said, "I've already cleaned up...no more deli sandwiches today." At 5:45pm. The door says the store hours are until 6pm...not 5:45pm. If a customer comes in and wants a sandwich while you are open, then you make them a sandwich. You clean up once you close. At least that's the way I understand things to work. Carmella's lost a customer today. I will...
Read moreTried their pizza gaina , on a 1-10 I give it a 2 So disappointed. I brought it over my sister in law’s for Easter and only one person liked it out of 23 people. $40 plus an $8 tip right down the drain!!! How do you know the other 59 people loved it??? I’m not trying to make your business look bad. I just wasn’t happy with the pizza gaina. Way too much cheese and fatty chewy pieces of meat. Maybe it was just a fluke and I happened to get that one. You offered to refund my money well I haven’t received anything yet. Now everyone knows you don’t keep your word to try and make this right.
Still waiting for my refund!!! Still Waiting Still waiting for my refund since Easter Still waiting May 1st still...
