Maverick House Tavern — Restaurant in Boston

Good fun place for a drink, but that's about it. This place has an identity crisis where it tries (and fails) to be a restaurant during the day and a bar at night. The thing is, with just a little, idk, attention and actual effort, they could be a good restaurant. Let me break it down. We came in for brunch, nobody to seat us, ok cool casual vibe sit-down wherever. We get coffee and ask for cream only to be told that's it's across the room on the bar. Like what? Is this sit-down service or not? Why would you make people get up and carry full cups of coffee across the restaurant???? The same is true is you ask for a glass of water - oh, there's a self serve thing you have to get up and go to yourself.

Food comes, have to ask for silverware???? I get something that comes with pancakes and have to ask for syrup. My two strips of bacon were not strips but rather the crumbled remnants of strips?? The eggs are cold??? The home fries are freaking last night's fries??? Her "caramelized onions" are raw????????

Dude, what the hell. There are basic restaurant 101 things here you aren't even trying to...

I really don’t even know where to begin. There are so many things wrong with this place it’s hard to list them all. The food was absolutely atrocious, from the undercooked chicken wings, to the burger that made me throw up on the way back to my car. Not sure which was worse. Food is absolutely disgusting, and frankly they are going to get someone sick. Besides that, the live music that they chose to book in there was the absolute worst thing I’ve ever seen. There were two guys, one playing guitar, the other appeared to be experiencing some sort of an ADHD overload while trying to play at least seven different instruments (none with any degree of skill at all). When they did actually trip and fall into playing their warped idea of a song, it sounded more like sneakers in a dryer than anything that would resemble a groove. To call it a train wreck would be an insult to trains. This place is a complete and utter disaster. Come on, East Boston, you can do better than this… This cannot be the best you...

Had dinner at this neighborhood bar and resturant last night. I really liked that they had a drink menu with their special cocktails. I had the Jalapeño Margarita which was really good. When a place says it has a spicy Margarita they normally just throw a slice of jalapeño in it and call it good. Here at Maverick House Tavern they actually had muddled jalapeño in it which makes it so much better. We did order the nachos for an app. Unfortunately they were not the best. Only had a single layer of cheese so if you didn’t get a chip from the top you missed any chance at cheese and they lose their namesake if its just a pile of chips. I had a spicy shrimp taco and Cajun chicken taco. Unfortunately they were more average in flavor. I’m still giving this place 4 stars. The wait staff was friendly and I’m hoping it was just an off night for the kitchen. Drinks were good. I would try it again to see on the food. Good place for a...
