Review: A Confusing Experience on a Rainy Day
On a rainy day, I recently visited a local place called "Toasted Flats" with high hopes for a cozy meal, a warm drink, and a bit of respite from the dreary weather. While the coffee I ordered was soothing, my experience quickly became puzzling and frustrating.
I had ordered a toasted flatbread, something I was really looking forward to. However, to my surprise, the woman serving me informed me that I wasn’t allowed to eat my flatbread. I could drink my coffee, but apparently, eating my meal was not permitted. She mentioned that the establishment had been open for eight years, which made me wonder how a place could be licensed to sell food but somehow not allow customers to eat it.
At first I thought she was joking with me, quickly realized she was not.
The whole situation left me confused, as it seemed like a bizarre, contradictory policy. How can a place sell food, but then restrict your ability to consume it? It felt like a strange contradiction.
While I can appreciate a business's need for rules and regulations and licensing, this experience left me scratching my head. I won’t be rushing back anytime soon, and it certainly didn't leave me with the warm, welcoming feeling that a rainy day meal should. Maybe next time, I'll do more research and find a place that will let me eat my food in peace,...
Read moreExtremely extremely rude never coming back. Been here 3 time in the last five years, and all three time all the girls that work here gave me attitude, roll their eyes at me. The first two time I thought they were having a bad day, so I went again and same thing. The worst part, I was having trouble opening the door to get my stroller in, I didn’t want to leave the stroller outside since my baby was napping. They saw me for two minutes struggling to get in the door, no one asked if I needed help. I usually don’t ask for help, but it was kind of hard trying to open the door, and when I finally asked if they could help me, they all roll their eyes at me, gave me attitude. I am an extremely nice person, and know how to treat people, especially people dealing with my food. (Tip) Try smiling and being nice to people who spend $ here, because we can always go somewhere else. This is not the only place in EB with coffee and sandwiches. Sandwich’ are not even that great and coffee is super over price. You just lost a customer and I’m pretty sure I’m not...
Read moreA bit of a mixed review. Visiting Boston for the first time and this was one of the only local places in walking distance from where we were staying (try to support local businesses when traveling rather than chains). The staff were super friendly and we came in with a large family of six (which can probably really stress out many). They got right on the orders and the wait was not bad for made-to-order sandwiches. Not being a big city resident, I was surprised there was no seating. I would probably state this somewhere in the website. We were out for the day - fortunately, there was a park just around the corner that we could sit at (so it all worked out). I have a mixed review on the food. I had a classic egg sandwich. The eggs were good but there was something off with the turkey. My other family members loved their breakfast sandwiches so maybe I just had bad luck. I was not a big fan of the coffee, but the hot chocolate was wonderfully made! Overall - a...
