I'm a HUGE fan of this place. The place is very simple and is essentially a takeout spot. There are only 3 tables inside next to the window.
I oder the chicken (half a dozen plump strips) greek salad ($6.50 + $2 for chicken) every time I go. It is layered with lettuce, grape tomatoes, cucumbers, olives, and LOTS of fresh feta, and it comes with a light vinaigrette-style dressing. I'm not a fan of dressings on my salad, only if the dressing is really good, which happens to be the case for Effie. All the vegetables are top quality and the pita bread is griddled, so it's crisp on top and warm. In fact, it's the best pita I've ever had). Their chicken entree is also amazing. Their rice is flavorful and both, the salad and the entree, are big portions. I always eat half and save the other half for the next day. I'm so happy when I know I'll have Effie's leftover. As soon as it started getting colder I'll try the famous Avgolemono (the classic Greek soup of broth, eggs, lemon juice, and rice. Effie's Kitchen doesn't have a website, so it's sort of a hidden gem. But if you happen to be in Rozzie square do yourself a favor and try Effie's food. ...
Read moreHow professional when the owner's daughter, Mel "Diaz," jumps on Google and Facebook to attack a customer who had a bad experience. The city's inspectional services department made your mother put the sign up following the pop up inspection. They also made her throw away all of the moldy baklava that were on display at the front counter. Would select McDonald's any day now over the nasty food served at this place. Big mistake on our end to try to support a local business. Will post receipts. In response: the city certainly DID make you throw away moldy baklava. It is a public 311 report. They also asked that you post a notice that day informing customers of a charge for cash/card price difference. Screenshot is posted. Nothing is defamatory either..all truth..so your threats don't scare anyone. Lol. Maybe take down your fake reviews while you're at it. It's against...
Read moreI’ve been going here since they opened. The place is clean, the owners are great! and the food is fresh and made to order. Looking at the below complaint about a surcharge fee had me laughing. There has been a sign up right in front of the register for years that clearly states if you pay with cash it’s cheaper and if you pay by card you get charged a fee. Crying over an 89 cent difference because that customer played blind to the sign that’s literally in your face as you’re paying is hysterical. The owners are hardworking people and it’s customers like below who try to tarnish Amazing small businesses because of their own mistakes. If you want good, fresh homemade food made by workers who love seeing their customers happy go visit if not then I advise you to take your business elsewhere like McDonald’s and quit...
