Hoshi Ya Sushi — Restaurant in Boston

Decent sushi for a takeout place, considering the low prices. I tried the spider maki and the scorpion maki. The fried crab in the spider maki was not crispy at all, but the scorpion maki was very good. The ginger on the side was also good.

Good and fast service. My order was ready within 10 minutes. I made a mistake ordering online and somehow ordered an extra of a roll. I called within a minute and there was no trouble getting it changed to a different roll and paying the difference in person (in cash).

There is another takeout place just a block away that has similar prices, with some things better and some things worse. I would try this...

I have eaten here since 2013 when I first moved to Boston (even driving from Newton when I moved out of Brighton 4 years ago), but I just found out they no longer offer the cash pick-up deal -- three rolls + miso soup for $15 was such a great deal :(

I prefer their sushi to Miyuki's, but unfortunately only one has a combo roll cash deal now...

I still suggest Hoshi-Ya, and will hope the cash deal comes...

My friend ordered the crazy Maki roll, and it must have been left out for a few hours before she had it or maybe the sauce was just spoiled, but she was nonstop puking all day and needed to go to the hospital for food poisoning.

Tremendously irresponsible of the restaurant. I asked them to check the cameras of what happened to the food and they said they don’t...
