The other reviews make me sad, I’ve never had a bad experience here and it’s hands down my favorite sushi restaurant in the Allston-Brighton area! Not many places have mushroom sushi rolls and Miyuki’s are delectable, it’s in my order just about every time. I usually order Philly and Idaho rolls at most restaurants and Miyuki’s are top-tier compared to other restaurants. I also love their miso soup. Recently I branched out and ordered the ABC roll (Avo, Banana, cucumber), I couldn’t imagine what a sweet sushi roll would taste like and I was pleasantly surprised, a whole new world has opened up for me. Their prices are great too. I always order online and if I ever add notes like “side of spicy Mayo please”, they always fulfill my request which I sadly don’t always have that experience at other places, so they pay attention here. Same thing for sodas. The guy (sorry I don’t know his name!!) that greets you after you enter and helps you get your order is incredibly nice and appears almost immediately after I enter each time. I love that you can see the sushi chefs hard at work right there when you enter and I don’t mind that it’s not a sit down place, I like walking my order back home and watching a...
Read moreThis place seems to have very divided reviews, but I decided to give it a try and I'm glad I did.
Food: I tried the Spider maki, Fly Dragon maki, and Miyuki combo. All of them were very good, and I especially liked the seared tuna sushi and seared salmon sushi in the Miyuki combo. I'm not sure what they garnish on top of it, but it made them stand out to me. The fried crab in the spider maki was crispy. I had never tried sweet potato maki before and the fly dragon maki was delicious with the eel and avocado on top.
The only thing that disappoints me is that the ginger is subpar. I don't think most people eat ginger so this may not matter to most people, but I tend to finish all of it, so it's a big part of the sushi experience for me. Both times, the ginger just seems old or dry and you can see it just by looking at how white it is. If that can be improved, this place would be amazing for a sushi takeout place.
Atmosphere: This appears to be a takeout only place because the space is all blocked off by tables.
Staff: They're all very friendly people here and greet people...
Read moreIf you are white, the staff are kind, accommodating, and generous as I discovered from personal experience as a white person. Sadly, this did not extend to the Black customers and Uber Eats drivers who were treated disrespectfully and what appeared to be a very racist manner. One driver was waiting and another (white or very light-skinned) person cut in front of her. When the driver said, "Excuse me, I was waiting in line," the employee literally waved his hand in her face, ignored her and called her rude! She was the only one NOT being rude! There are many options in the area to buy sushi. I don't care how good the sushi is or how kind the staff are to me. I will not continue to support a business who is racist. I sincerely hope that the business invests in internal antiracism work and makes a concerted effort to combat their racist beliefs and treat all people with the basic human decency that we...
