Oh man! What an ice cream scoop! I love ice cream, and I appreciate its place in my life. Ice cream is representative of the summer, and the summer is a period of time representative of family, community, and the freedom that comes with a lack of responsibility. In my youth, I was very committed to school, and summer felt very overwhelming. During the winter months I committed myself to my education and clubs to the point in which I had no hobbies outside of my school. Summer was a very depressing time of my life, I would always get bored and sad, and retreat from the things in life that brought me joy, because I would forget how to live my truth. When I began my post-grad studies at the University of Pirate Studies (the one in Australia, not California), I was in one of these depressive episodes. However, my pirate comrades helped me to re-discover those little things in life that make it worth living. So everyday I remember to give thanks to the crew of 1998: No-teeth Mark, Bandanna Brad, Long-leg Lance, Big-eyed Barb, Little boy Billie, and Spot the Sea Dog. When I returned from my studies to America, and felt the harsh breeze characteristic of the East coast, the first thing I did was get ice cream. This J.P. Licks happened to be the closest ice cream place. I ordered a mint chocolate chip, and I sat at a table and cried into the rainbow jimmies, and watched my tears melt the colors into the green dairy delight. They were tears of joy, for I had never had ice cream so scrumptious in my...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreAbout a year ago I accompanied some friends to this ice cream shop and I was overwhelmed by the smell of delicious espresso when I walked in the door. I didn't even get ice cream I got a latte instead haha. It was one of the best lattes I've ever had. (I'm not from the Boston area but my husband is a DJ there and DJ'ed the JPLicks holiday party. He shared how much pride they have in their coffee and where they source it from. It all made sense!) So last week when we were in the area I specifically made the trip back to this location. Once again the best mocha latte I've ever had. I'm a coffee connoisseur and this received my highest rating yet! Then once I found out their mocha sauce was made with their own hot chocolate mix I naturally had to snag a bottle of that too! Excellent service, 5...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreUsually I have excellent experiences at jp licks. Not this past sunday afternoon at your S. BOSTON location. Mostly, I have been to Davis Sq., but have also gone to 3 other locations with very good customer service. My husband and I were the only customers. The server saw us come in and then disappeared. When he finally reemerged I asked about the vanilla hot chocolate. I was not that drawn to it after hearing the ingredients, so I ordered a hot chocolate assuming that i would get choclate. I did not. I could have complained at the time, but did not have the time to wait for another to be made. Also, as I was eating in, and told that to the server I expected to get my beverage in a mug, but got it in paper. All in all it was a...
