I stumbled upon Lincoln Tavern tonight on a delivery app. I didn’t feel like cooking and the weather was lousy, so I ordered in via delivery.
Lincoln Tavern has a solid menu with something for every taste. They have a solid selection of appetizers, including their famous “wood fire roasted” wings. If you aren’t up for wings, they still have you covered!
You can also find calamari, sliders, truffle Mac and cheese, Wagyu dumplings, ahi tuna tacos, and much more. If you want something a touch lighter, they have clam chowder and baked French onion soup. They also have a fairly large salad menu with many choices.
They seem to be most well known for their “Lincoln Burger,” which I’ll be trying on my next visit! They also have a steak and cheese bomb, grilled and fried chicken sandwiches, and a tasty Cuban sandwich.
If you’re looking for dinner, you can do surf or turf. They have a small selection of steak, seafood, chicken, fish, and pasta. I will say they don’t have a huge “entree” selection. A few more choices in this department would be appreciated!
Lastly, we ARE in Boston and folks love their pizza. While I have yet to try it, their pizzas look phenomenal. They have a solid selection of the classics and multiple specialty pizzas. I am very particular about pizza, so I will report back on this!
The sides menu is the true letdown for me. I found there was barely any selection and it all was way overpriced. $9 for plain, hand-cut fries is absurd! They do have a fairly large dessert offering that includes cakes, “cakesicles”, bake-at-home cookie dough, ice creams, and sundaes.
I ordered the “Lt. Cubano” Sandwich. It is their take on a Cuban Sandwich. Roasted pork loin, ham, pickles, Swiss, and Cuban mustard. This was piled onto a muffuletta roll. I chose their hand-cut fries for my side. I wish they would have had a bit better of a side selection to choose from.
The muffuletta was solid but not too dense. It held up great to the piping hot meat and melty Swiss cheese! The Cuban mustard is phenomenal, but I will say: It has quite a quick to it! If you don’t like spicy, I’d get the mustard on the side.
The meat was piping hot. The Swiss was melted perfectly. The ham and pork both were very flavorful, however I found them both just a bit on the dry and chewy side. If the meat was a bit more tender, I would have given that 5th star. It just was a little chewy and became tiring to eat.
The hand cut fries arrived piping hot and delicious. It is rare that delivered fries don’t turn soggy on you, so I appreciated that! It was a generous portion. But as I said, more side choices would be greatly appreciated!
I look forward to dining here again soon! The food was very good and I look forward to really diving into their appetizer menu.
Everything was packaged perfectly and the order was accurate. I can tell already, they’ll be one of my go-to spots in South Boston. I also hear their brunch is spectacular, so I look forward to giving that a...
Read moreI am so happy I was finally able to come here for brunch. Lincoln Tavern and Restaurant has always been on top of my list and I am quite sad that it took me this long to make a reservation here.
My friend and I decided to come here for brunch. Reservations were made a week before which was amazing - I remember I had to book out weeks in advance for weekend brunch so it was hard to schedule around that. Initially we were seated inside, but we wanted a brighter setting so the host was able to accommodate for us which I appreciate. The host was probably the least friendly person I've encountered and I have no idea why. Although it did not ruin my experience here, it definitely was uncalled for considering that my friend and I were being extremely kind to the staff. It's okay - everybody has their bad days and I will let this one slide. Other than that, our waitress was really attentive throughout and was incredibly helpful.
What we ordered: Oysters: I've stopped eating oysters for several years now, but for some reason I had a strong craving. These were really fresh and would order them again!
Baked Goat Cheese Dip: I highly recommend this appetizer! I love goat cheese and fig jam so this was everything I could ever ask for. The goat cheese is so creamy and paired so well with fig jam - my favorite items to put on a charcuterie board! I do think that the sourdough bread was a bit too toasted for my liking, but it was still really delicious.
Fruity Pebble Pancakes: I am a huge sucker for fruity pebbles and this pancake did not disappoint! To be honest, this is what I really came here for and I enjoyed every bite. Our waitress suggested to get one stack and thank goodness she did - the pancake is HUGE. I ended up taking this to-go and it was still good after several hours.
Banana Fluffternutter Doughnuts: It is not brunch without order doughnuts of any sorts. The doughnut was incredibly fluffy. I have to admit - I couldn't really taste all the flavors together because it ended up tasting very sweet. I might opt for the blueberry doughnuts next time!
BBQ Pulled Pork Benedict: This is probably one of the best benedict I've had in a while! The pork was so juicy and tender. The flavors all balanced each other well and it was not too heavy. I need to have this again.
Finding parking was a complete struggle and it reminded me why I rarely come to South Boston. After circling around for 15ish minutes, I was able to find parking in the back streets. So just a heads up!
Overall a great experience and I cannot wait to be back to try...
Read moreWe have been here many, many times over the last few years and the food and service is generally pretty good. However, our last experience is what has prompted this single star. Last night we had a good dinner at Lincoln, and I inadvertently left my phone wallet at the table when we left (after leaving a sizable tip, I might add). This morning, I called the restaurant to ask if they had found any brown leather wallets with a license with my name, credit cards and significant amount of cash in it. They said they would get back to me after checking. A little while later they called back and said no such item was found. Over the next hour, I tore apart my house looking for the wallet, and tore out some hair out some hair (figuratively) in frustration. Finally I decided to go to Lincoln to look around the booth myself to see if it had dropped on the ground or something. When I got there, I told the person at the front desk about my predicament, and asked if anyone had turned in a wallet/phone case and if I could look around the booth we were sitting in last night. She rummaged around the drawers at the desk and said she couldn't find anything. I went to the booth and asked the patrons there if I could quickly look around the area - unfortunately, I came up empty handed. However, as I was walking back past the front desk, one of the drawers was open and my wallet was sitting right on top! I pointed it out to the person at the desk and said "that's my wallet right there." She mumbled some half-hearted apology as she handed it back to me. I am not sure why TWO people were unable to find a wallet that I found within a second of glancing in the drawer. The only thing I can infer is that they might have a bit of a scam going where they claim not to have found items so they can keep them (a pair of glasses that I left was also "not found"). The cash in my wallet appears to be intact, but maybe the plan was to take it after they decided no one came to claim it? Very disappointed in these events. I am awaiting a manager's call to discuss this but until there is some further resolution about the matter, beware - make sure you have your belongings with you before you leave, or they may claim to have never found it.
TL;DR: Left my wallet at the restaurant, they stated TWICE that they couldn't find it - once over the phone and once to my face when I came by the restaurant myself. And lo and behold I just happened to see my wallet in the drawer they were searching through that they said did not have any...
