The Legendary Pasta Spot Among Boston Locals? 161

Believe the hype. This is a cozy, little spot built into the neighborhood, which could be passed by if you're not observant. While the interior seats a couple dozen, the atmosphere makes up for it. So, if you want to eat here make sure you have time. Our party of three was eventually seated after two hours on a Wednesday evening, to give some perspective. Once we were seated our waiter was very attentive to our table and had a very brash demeanor (in a direct, yet funny way). He joked with us and gave us advice on what to eat. And after we ordered the food was brought out quickly. We ordered an appetizer of fried seafood (scallops, shrimp, and calamari). They were perfectly battered and not overdone. My favorite was the scallops. Salads also came with the meal, which were tasty as well. My friend and I both ordered the lobster ravioli. Again, the food was quickly brought out. I've never had these types of raviolis before, but I will definitely recommend them to anyone and everyone. First, the portion is huge (I was only able to eat half) so you get your money's worth. The raviolis themselves are large too, about 3x3 inches, and are stuffed with a diced lobster-ricotta mixture. The pasta is thick and the sauce is either homemade or a very impressive premade imitation, light in consistency and full of flavor. I wanted to give this place all five stars but there were a few things that kept me from doing so. When we were seated the silverware on our table was dirty, not just mine but all three of ours. I did notice a large party seated before all were present contrary to the restaurant's policy. Lastly, when I returned from the restroom (you have to go through the kitchen) I nearly knocked over a waitress when I pushed the kitchen doors open. It was an accident but after that happened our waiter suggested I tell the waitress to not be a stupid b**** not once but three times, which made me feel uncomfortable. I'm from the South so I'm not sure if this is just how people up here jest, but the way he said it made me feel he was serious. Some things to know before you go: you'll have to park on the street as it's in a neighborhood. The wait time is no joke so be sure you have the time. As previously stated the bathroom is in the kitchen and it's warm.

I had this place on my go-to list ever since I saw it on Diners, Drive ins, and Dives years ago. Finally had the opportunity to go and boy it did not disappoint. Now the first thing you should know that on weekends this place will be absolutely slammed during the usual lunch and dinner rush. There's no reservations unless you have a party larger than 6 so unless you want to brave the long lines I advise to come during a non peak time (I went at 5pm on a Tuesday and it was pretty open). Parking is limited to street (2 hour time limit unless you have resident stickers though there's no meters you need to worry about). Started off with the calamari which had a good balance of salt and spice. Very crispy but not too greasy and heavy. The bread that came with the meal was nothing special (some oil and Parmesan would have been nice but not a big deal). Salad was a nice prelude to the main meal. The lady had her go-to entree of the Frutti di Mare with linguine pasta and was very happy with the combination of flavors (she had the red sauce). The quantity was massive so she wrapped the remaining quarter as leftovers. I went with the signature lobster ravioli which was absolutely delicious. It came with 8 raviolis which may not seem huge but it's absolutely packed with lobster and ricotta cheese. It's quite dense so don't get caught off guard since I barely managed to finish the meal and felt bottom heavy for quite a while afterwards. The prices are a tad on the high side but they make up for it in terms of quality AND quantity. We'll definitely be back in the future to try their other offerings!

We live close to this place and have been here three times in the last six months. The portions are large and tasty, the waiters are nice and sociable. The atmosphere is very cozy, an acquired taste, but we like it. But unfortunately, I am writing here today to point out the service errors. It all started with the fact that you can’t take a table with a dog on the street. An exception could have been made on the street, since many restaurants allow dogs. Ok, we took the dog home. Then they brought me a glass of wine and bread with butter. It’s not clear what to spread it on and where to put a piece of bread... I asked for a menu, and the young man never brought it to me by the end of the evening. But he did bring a glass, but he brought the water about 15 minutes later. My English is not very good, but I tried to explain to him that the best solution would be to first bring cutlery with a cloth napkin (which I didn’t have until the end of the evening, although every customer sitting next to me had one), then a glass with a vase of water, and only then bread and butter. The young man listened to me without enthusiasm and said ok. Everyone makes mistakes, that's normal, but please - if you've chosen a profession in the service industry, then be kind enough to work 100%. Special thanks to the manager who tried to find a solution to a situation that I'd rather keep quiet about.

604 Reviews later, I'm happy to say this place does not disappoint. For lunch, we enjoyed a generous amount of food for all of the dishes in our order which were the calamari, Rino's Special, and salad that came as part of the special because we asked for homemade pasta. The food is undoubtedly top quality. We started off with the salad, which was split between my girlfriend and I but the portion was more than enough for both of us. The calamari was a huge dish served with the sauce; enough sauce that you don't have to bother asking for more. It even felt as if it were its own soup. You can believe we dipped our bread in this sauce. Lastly, the Rino's Special with homemade fusilli was definitely a favorite for us. Again, as is their style, it was a bountiful serving of high quality ingredients. Our server (I believe Diane) was great. She treated us as she would any other individual without any need of over selling such a high quality space. She was genuine and friendly as well as attentive. The restaurant itself isn't very large, which allows for the great service and quality of food. If you can come during lunch, I would recommend it so as to avoid the dinner wait. But if dinner is the only thing you can do, step in line because this place is worth the hype.

A few things you should know before you attempt to visit: Street parking is very limited in the area and is permit only M-F from 6pm to 8am. Also, the restaurant's inside dining space is small. I believe there are only 10 tables (though I did see some outdoor tables as well). I'd suggest arriving as early as possible and/or expect to wait in a line outside. One of the staff even has the message 'Yes, you have to wait outside' imprinted on the back of her shirt, lol You've been forewarned! This is a cash only establishment. They have an ATM. I arrived 30 minutes before opening on a Saturday and was the second person in line and was very pleased that I was able to get in and get a great seat at the front window. Enjoyed my meal and wine tremendously! Started off with asparagus wrapped with prosciutto topped with goat cheese and drizzled with balsamic glaze. It was delicious. I thought it was going to be warm, but it was cold, but still good. Paired a Pinot Grigio with lobster ravioli - which was absolutely wonderful. Loved the rich flavor of the fresh plum tomato brandy cream sauce! Amazing food, great service and warm ambience!
