TERRIBLE establishment. My boyfriend and I were looking for somewhere to eat, and while he parked the car, I walked in to get us a seat. I walked in to an entirely empty restaurant. All 3 employees were behind the bar talking and upon entering, they looked up at me with extremely annoyed expressions. I then said “Hi! How are you?”, and while the hostess got up to speak to me, the old woman behind the bar just continued to looked at me rudely and clearly bothered to even have to do her job and said “Fine.” I proceeded to say “My boyfriend is parking our car. Could someone tell me where the restroom is? If it’s for customer’s only-“ and the rude old woman interrupted me, looked at me with disdain, and said in the most incredibly rude tone “It’s for customers only”. Had I not been interrupted, I would’ve finished saying “If it’s for customers only, I would be happy to purchase a drink first”. I replied “Well, as I was saying, I’d love to purchase a beverage first”. She looked me up and down and said “There’s a hotel down the street with a restroom you can use.” to which I replied in a very friendly tone despite the blatant disrespect “I’d like to purchase a drink and grab some food with my boyfriend. I just also need to use the restroom haha. It’s a bit of an emergency”. The older woman and her other female coworker behind the bar exchanged an annoyed glance (making it very clear that they were annoyed with me - a customer trying to enjoy the establishment) then she replied in the nastiest tone “As I said, there’s a hotel you can use the restroom in up the street. Get out.” I have never been treated so poorly in my life let alone refused service for no reason. It’s incredibly sad that this establishment allows let alone actively participates in discrimination against disabled citizens. If I could give this place zero...
Read moreGirlfriend and I were in town for a hockey game and to celebrate 2 years of sobriety for myself. We were having ourselves an amazing weekend until it was time to get dinner. We walked down the main street and every restaurant had a line that was at least 11 people long. We continued to walk until we got to Rocco's.
We were overjoyed to see no line and a friendly hostess. She immediately seated us outside next to the hostess stand. We were in high spirits, literally dancing and singing in the streets (we're a goofy couple) and our waitress came over to the table.
She immediately zeroed in on my girlfriend, drawing extremely close, making my girlfriend uncomfy. She asked if she wanted drinks and my girlfriend declined. The entirety of the time, she did not acknowledge my presence there until it was time to pay in which she gladly took my card. My girlfriend even asked if I knew her because she thought the waitress's lack of service towards me was personal (I'm not from Boston and this was my first time at Rocco's so this is impossible.)
I noticed she did this with a large table next to us but not nearly as blatant as there was a couple that just got engaged next to us. It was specifically the men. Now I'm not saying I deserve special treatment or this woman owes me anything, however it was distracting to the entire experience and ruined both my girlfriend and I's mood. I will not be recommending this this place because of Courtney B.'s actions.
The food was not bad. We had the arancini which was probably the best part. The rice balls were nicely made and perfect size for appetizers. We got two flatbreads as well. They were typical bar flatbreads.
This place is probably a nice spot in the summer. Probably a great bar for those who consume alcohol. The lack luster service was...
Read moreReally not willing to accommodate anybody coming to their bar to watch ufc fights The only reason I posted this now was because I saw a similar complaint that looked remarkably like my experience, and I was considering giving them another chance for ufc 203 tonight. I'll definitely be giving it a miss now.
Their food might be nice, but their staff are deliberately rude to customers that come in to watch fights. I felt so unwelcome that I left after one drink.
After getting told that only 'paying' customers get tables, we got to sit at the bar (which would have been fine, all i asked for was a seat where i could warch the fights, it was just done with an attitude). When asked what I would like, I responded by asking to see a drinks menu. The response I got was, 'most people know what they want when they come to a bar', without any hint of joke or sarcasm, just straight up rudeness.
When a friend of mine arrived, we had to move down to the end of the bar where there was an open stool. We were then told (with a heavy sigh and an eye roll) that 'if you have to move I guess I can move the check for you', and my friend was given the same ignorant treatment that I recieved.
I'm sure it's a fine restaurant overall, but if you run a bar that advertises itself as a place to watch the ufc, you might want to make those customers feel welcome. If you are unwilling to do that, please remove yourself from the ufc...
