My girlfriend and I enjoy exploring new restaurants. Having worked in the restaurant industry for over 10 years, I believe I hold a certain standard when dining out. I pay attention to specific aspects like the restaurant's practices, the time it takes for food to be served, engagement with specials, and the staff's demeanor. It might sound a bit peculiar, but to me, checking these boxes indicates a successful business.
Sloanes managed to meet all these criteria, which is impressive for a new restaurant. The overall experience, from service to drinks and food, was exceptional. We were efficiently served and finished our meal within an hour, even on a moderately slow Saturday. Our entrees arrived 10-15 minutes after ordering, demonstrating efficiency.
Upon seating, we were warmly greeted, informed about specials, and asked about drinks and appetizers. We ordered the Burning Passions, which were deliciously balanced in heat and sweetness. The pot roast Mac 'n Cheese my girlfriend had was tender and perfectly cooked, with creamy and not overcooked pasta—an essential detail for me. I opted for the pretzel-crusted chicken, with a crispy exterior and juicy interior. The mustard butter complemented the pretzel crust well. The mashed potatoes, while slightly lumpy, were enjoyable.
For dessert, we tried the Snickers bar, my only critique being its excessive sweetness, further accentuated by the sweet caramel sauce. It lacked a balancing element for the overpowering sweetness. Despite this, we thoroughly enjoyed it, recognizing the craftsmanship and love evident in its preparation.
In conclusion, I wholeheartedly recommend Sloanes. As someone with high standards and experience alongside some of Boston's best chefs, this restaurant stands out. It offers satisfying portions, excellent taste, and friendly service. Sloanes deserves more...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at Sloane in Allston, and the experience was largely delightful. The food truly stands out—every dish bursts with flavor and creativity. The pancakes, in particular, were nothing short of spectacular: light, fluffy, and perfectly executed, making them an absolute highlight of the meal.
While the soda bread didn’t quite live up to the high standard set by the rest of the dishes, it was a small miss in an otherwise impeccable lineup. The other items on the menu were consistently fantastic, showcasing the chef’s skill and passion for quality ingredients.
Beyond the food, the service was both attentive and friendly, enhancing the overall dining experience. The ambiance was warm and inviting, striking a perfect balance between casual comfort and refined style—ideal for both a relaxed brunch or an intimate dinner.
All in all, Sloane in Allston is a must-visit for anyone looking for great food paired with excellent service and a charming atmosphere. I’m already looking forward to...
Read moreWe were only looking for a grownup place to meet friends after the Boston Calling concert for some drinks and to catch-up. There's very little available in this neighborhood, so Sloane's was our only choice, and we never expected it would be so flawless, inviting, creative, and showcase such hospitality. I could live just on their appetizers, meant to be shared for the table. They're fun and playful and flawlessly executed. An instant win were the cheese and onion popovers, and the tomato tart but even the pigs-in-a-blanket were clever and original. Loved the cocktail menu where even traditionally sweet options were crafted with restraint to highlight flavor rather than dulling the mouth with sugar syrup. We finished with a couple desserts and let me just say the banana cream pie should be mandatory at every table! Service was so smooth and unobtrusive, they never blinked even though we monopolized our table for rather a long time with our friends. ...
