I am going to start with the most important thing first - service. This week we had the opportunity to visit the Andersen School complex, and more specifically The Woodshop. Two very different nights and one very similar experience. The first night it was quiet with not a lot of staff. Parking and seating were a breeze. We were here to meet on with friends from college for the first time in a year! Our server was a smart quick witted young lady (long hair and tats on one arm - just for ID purposes). We watched her work with an elderly couple who were clearly in the area to scratch the passport itch and would be leaving in the morning. She helped them and is with our passport stamps. She went BEYOND and so far above what we have come to expect of McMenamins staff and did so with a great attitude and compassion. 🥰🥰🥰 Our food and drink was good as always. We both had higher bowls with slight modifications to meet dietary constraints. It was delivered quickly and was hot - yeah! The grounds of Andersen School are like others we have visited and loved. Green and lush with eye catching colors and textures that are pleasing to the eyes and nose. Highly recommend this place if you are in the area.

BE AWARE OF DISCRIMINATION! We waited 10 mins standing around by the host stand with many employees passing us like we werent there. Then we were told only one firepit was open and the one table left they wouldnt seat us as they said that we would be interrupting the group by there. I asked why arent the other firepits open and was told because its raining ( it was lightly sprinkling) then I said well they are all covered so I dont get it. Then he says they are understaffed. Why the lies? We then said fine lets just sit inside and he says of course just show me your Vaxx card or a negative test. This is Medical Discrimination and against HIPPA. The Seattle and King County health quotes only this "As the Local Health Officer, I strongly recommend and urge all people and businesses in King County to voluntarily comply with this ORDER and its anti-discrimination requirements." So its NOT MANDATORY! I have been coming here for over three years and have reccomended this place and brought tons of business here. I Refuse to Ever Return and will inform Everyone Else to only give your money to places that dont discriminate.

This place is just grand. The food isn't the greatest, but it's reliably good with some variety. Think elevated pub grub. Pizzas, Sammies, fish n chips, all good. Don't overlook the soups and the specials. I've been here a number of times, and when a special sounds interesting, I go for that and have been rewarded for that. The drinks are good, and you can do a whiskey flight if you ask. What keeps me coming back is the space, the vibe, and the wonderful staff. The outdoor space is pretty unique and elevates your experience. The fire pit seating when chilly out is so memorable. You'll want to keep ordering drinks and snacks just to stay put and enjoy it, at least that's what I tend to do. If you've never been here, make a plan to. Walk the grounds, catch a movie, gi swimming, do a bar-crawl, play shuffleboard, pool, pinball...damn fun place!

A friend and I came to the wood shop just before midnight to get quiet 21st birthday drinks. Unfortunately, the night didn’t turn out as intended.

We walked inside and sat on what we perceived to be the correct side of a half-wall in the restaurant, trying to be respectful of the fact that I was 15 minutes from legal for the bar. We wanted to get an appetizer while we waited, and I would love to be able to review that but the waitress demanded to see IDs, and told us we had to wait outside until midnight. We cheerfully complies, though it would have been nice if we could have still been served an appetizer in the outdoor seating - but that wasn’t the case.

The same waitress walked by and glares at us a few times, and loudly told one of the other wait staff not to let us in until midnight, and to make sure he checked our IDs.

We waited a few minutes until after midnight to be polite, and then headed to the bar where we were informed by the bartender that my ID was not valid. In Washington, licenses usually expire on your birthday, but my renewed card hasn’t come yet. I’d checked with the DMV, who told me that my license was valid for the entire date of expiration, 24 hours later than when I was refused service.

Unfortunately, the bar tender disagreed and told me that I had to get out without a valid license, much more angrily than seemed necessary for the circumstances. My friend asked in disbelief if he was serious, and he threatened to call his manager.

So we left, which is how completely sober I was kicked out of the same bar twice on my birthday, and both times quite rudely. I would love to have been able to leave a review of the food, the atmosphere, and the drinks- but unfortunately I don’t think I’ll ever return. It looked like a great bar, but the service was memorable for all the wrong reasons. It’s a shame. My family and I used to...

Went their for 2 big life anniversaries for my girlfriend and I and invited some friends. We arrived at 5pm and were told the wait would be 20 minutes. They got us seated in less than 20 minutes and then the ungodly wait started. After about 20 minutes nobody had come to greet our table so I went to the bar and got us water and asked for some service. Nothing for another 10 minutes so I went back to talk to someone at the bar. The gentleman came right over and took our drink and food order. We then proceeded to wait another 30 minutes for drinks so by this point it had been an hour. We even watched as other tables that arrived after us get served drinks, food, and left. We were coming to the point where we needed to go to make a reservation at another location so we asked for the check and to find out about the food. This is when we found out that the appetizers were given to the table next to us and the entrees hadn't even been made. We asked for all the food to go. Our friends had to wait another 20 minutes to get the food while my girlfriend and I went to make our other reservation. It took this establishment over 90 minutes to bring food out with no apologies or attempt to compensate for the horrible service. Our friends managed to coax the manager in to comping our appetizers but that was it. Overall this was the worst restaurant experience I've ever had. None of us are...

Worst service EVER!! ordered Scooby snacks ( after waiting 20 minutes and finally flagging down a waiter because our waitress still had not stopped by to even introduce herself. When they cane out we only got mustard and Scooby snacks are mini corn dogs!! We needed ketchup. I eventually (after 10 minutes) went to the bar and asked for ketchup and the blond said she was our waitress and would be right out. 10 minutes later she showed up still no ketchup and took our drink order. In her defense i didnt know what i wanted to eat yet so i did not order any more food but eventually we did order 2 appetizers and it was almost an hour before they showed up and they were cold. I was only here because my kids were using the pool and i had to stay on property but my food did not get there until after the kids were done with their hour swim and i ordered our 2 appetizers right after they left to swim! I love the property it is fun and enchanting and even though I am a local I have always wanted to stay for a weekend and try all the restaurants and bars and wander thru the gardens ect. But after the lack of service we had at a restaurant that was inky half full inside and 2 tables outside I can promise you we will never be returning. The kids can use a friends pool if they really want to swim becasue there is no way I will ever TRY to spend...
