Discovering Ajax for our Sunday brunch was a delightful experience! Located in the new, vibrant Limelight hotel, the restaurant boasts a modern, bright, and warm decor that instantly uplifts the spirit. The service, thanks to Sam, made us feel genuinely welcomed. The highlight, of course, was the kitchen—a pleasant surprise indeed! As someone who often finds “steak and eggs” disappointing in the U.S., I was thrilled by the perfectly cooked ribeye, accompanied by crunchy vegetables and a delicate hollandaise sauce (which was added after I took the picture of my plate). For those who, like me, prefer to skip the carbs (and so, breakfast potatoes), the rest of the plate is more than satisfying. The pricing was also pleasantly surprising. I’m sure this new restaurant is going to become a must-visit spot in Boulder in no time! I’m looking forward to coming back for dinner or another brunch soon!

Community builder on Day 1! Bravo! 👏 My friend and I were eager to test out & support the new Ajax Tavern at the Limelight. Turns out we were there on Day 11. They had a weekly Tuesday Run Club in the bar which was fun and inspiring. The bartenders, waitstaff, and hotel staff were all very welcoming. The decor and the views are stunning. Everything we had was delicious. The executive chef, Jeff Gundy, came out and greeted our table. He moved to Boulder for the Limelight. We were honored to welcome him to Boulder. What a fantastic magnet for Boulder. See you again soon!

New restaurant in a new, modern hotel. We enjoyed the service, cocktails, and the fries - and the Hamachi Crudo was the standout. The kids loved the cod. We also had the Bolognese (ok) and the the cauliflower au gratin (pretty good). Parking seems to be relatively non existent so we used valet. Will be back to check out.

Notified Ajax of celiac disease before I came. When I sat down I notified server again and questioned what was safe on menu. Server proceeds to tell me that the fryer is "gluten friendly." I further inquire to find out it's cross contaminated and not safe. I told the server that that term might mislead someone with celiac. I move on and order. I inquire about the peppers being safe. She says they are celiac safe. Peppers come to the table, I inquire again if they are safe. She reassures me they are safe. Thankfully I hadn't eaten one yet when she casually saunters over to the table and notifies me that they were fried in the contaminated fryer. She walks away without offering a refund or taking them away. I go to the front desk and ask for a new server. To note... if I consume gluten, I end up in the ER and am sick for months (this is why I only eat at higher end places, for safety). At the desk a very nice server immediately takes our table and makes sure my food is safe (his name was Cole or Colton I think - he was lovely). As we left, the initial server stared us down in anger. I also found out that the Ajax manager was standing at the reception desk when I complained and she never said a word. A customary response is to assure food safety and improve server education. I understand one mistake but compounding issues with safety, attitude and management point to a significant problem. I won't be back.

Update: I'm moving my review to two stars. I called the hotel and they refunded the entire meal. I'm grateful for that gesture. One more star earned for the front desk...

We were so excited to try Ajax Tavern on our trip to Boulder since the restaurant itself is beautiful. Unfortunately the experience ended up being pretty mid. Our server was basically non existent. We ordered a beer and a glass of wine and it took 15 minutes for him to return just to tell us they didn’t even have the beer.

They start you off with focaccia which sounded great in theory but it was cold and so incredibly salty that we couldn’t eat it. We ordered the tuna crudo and Caesar salad next. The crudo tasted overwhelmingly like garlic and the salad was just fine. For mains we tried the chicken which was bland and came as two small pieces with no sides. I ordered a harvest salad with steak added. I asked for medium rare but it came out medium bordering on well done. That said the flavors on this dish were actually our favorite of the night.

Overall for the price point and level of service I would not recommend it. The menu itself sounds amazing which is why we were so excited to go but the execution was not there. They are still new so hopefully they can make some adjustments because the concept...

I've been here twice. Once for a 400+ dollar meal and today for breakfast. Bad service both times, but breakfast was next level. Sat down at the bar. We sat for 15 minutes before the piles of dirty plates in front of us were bussed. I had to ask for them to be cleaned. We ordered breakfast and 45 minutes after I ordered the server told me that "the order didn't go through" which meant he forgot to put in our order. I asked him if the order could be expedited since he forgot. 30 minutes after that I asked someone who looked like a manager how long the food wait would be and she said 45 minutes. I asked my server if he could check how long it would be because we needed to leave. He told me it would be another 20 minutes and that he couldn't expedite the order because the kitchen Told him to go back to the bar when he asked about our food. I asked if a manager could help. We had been there for an hour and a half and did not plan to wait another 20 plus minutes for our breakfast. We just left. They were incredibly understaffed there isn't a manager...
