This is without a doubt the single most disappointing food experience I've ever had in Boulder, not just pizza but all food I've ever put into my mouth in all of Boulder County.
I desperately wanted this to be my new go-to spot as I moved right down the street. I noticed it was over priced, but willing to pay extra for an elevated pizza experience close to home. My girlfriend was gone for the night so I settled in for some smoking, video gaming, and za like a good one night bachelor does. The stars were aligned for Audrey Jane.
I ordered a white Sam and Sam and a red Spicy Pig + basil and mushrooms with Sicilian style crust because delicious. It arrived predicably hot and fast. That's precisely where my joy ended.
I started with the customized Spicy Pig, opened the box to find burnt crust and so much grease it would put a Jiffy Lube to shame. Not like "I got a pepperoni pizza" grease, but like it's the main ingredient. So much grease it runs off the edge of the slice when you pick it up. So much grease it creates mini grease hot springs underneath for the pizza to soak in (see pic of the back side) and the toppings slide off.
Okay, man up! I go for the paper towel blot method determined to enjoy some grub...I'm starving at this point. Here comes the real treat! I get past the charred taste to be greeted with a crust with the texture of well-sunned cardboard and a flavor to match it. I couldn't even bite through the crust, had to attack it with a teeth tearing technique like a T-Rex gnashing through a Jurassic Park Jeep. Sadness washes over The Dude. There will be no enjoyment derived from Audrey Jane's tonight.
But wait, I have a white pizza still!!! I'll spare you the superlatives, it was equally as bad.
$88.75 for two pizzas is insane. Especially when I couldn't get through two entire slices. I should have offered them $88 one dollar bills to grind up and use for the next guys toppings. I've spent about 15 minutes longer writing this review than eating their pizza. So 16 minutes writing...
Read moreEDIT I really hate to write this edit 7 months after my original post, and I will start by saying I still believe this is the best pizza in Boulder, but lately I have had a few disappointments in the portion size.
I moved to Boulder in early 2020 and when I would order a 20" pie with my wife we'd pickup a box and the pizza would literally be coming out the sides. It would easily be good for us to split for 2 meals. Of late we've had a few pies that we're significantly smaller than the box, one, a honey disco pie, which is great but lighter on toppings, only was good for 1 meal. Last night we ordered and said before "I hope it's not small again" as we've slowed down our ordering after the last few were on the small side and prices went up. This pie was not egregiously smaller, but noticeably so, so I decided to measure to box and pizza to see if I am just being greedy.
The inside of the box is 20x20, the pizza was 19.5x17.5, when you do out the math that's 85% of the size of a 20x20 pizza, or essentially more than an entire slice missing. Again this was not the smallest 20" we've had, I would estimate we've had 1 or 2 where the pizza had 2+ inches of room on both sides, making it about ~80% of the expected size, heading toward 2 slices short. With the bump to the 20", plus tax and tip, a speciality pizza is heading toward $40. I would really expect to be getting the vast majority of a 20" pie at that price, and I know we used to always be pleasantly surprised with any overflow.
Again I still think this is the best Pizza in Boulder but I feel like I am hitting a mix of shrinkflation with inflation (a 20" spicy pig went from $29 - $33).
ORIGINAL Best pizza in Boulder, coming from Connecticut it’s hard to compete with New Haven, but Audrey’s has its own taste and style that holds its own, the spicy pig and honey...

Audrey Jane's is one of many great local pizza places in town, but there is something special about what this pizzaiola has brought together here in this garage: a New York x San Francisco x Italy melting pot of brilliance that from the first bite to the last is a wonderful experience. This restaurant is smallll and if you plan to go on a weekend during the dinner rush you should expect a wait, outside, to pick the pie up; (given COVID restrictions, even more so) it's well worth the wait. Both the NY and Sicilian style pies are delicious but I'll be primarily focusing on the NY.
All good pizza starts with good basics - bread, sauce, and cheese - and in the case of AJ's all three of these base ingredients are wonderful. The sauce is robust but not overpowering, the bread flavorful but still light and airy with great gluten structure, and the cheese is tasty and portioned well.
As you add toppings, the quality stays top notch with thick "cupped" pepperoni's, crumbled large chunks of sausage, and extremely fresh veggies being standouts. The specialty pies that venture further away from tradition are equally delicious and have well thought out and balanced flavour profiles, and the - albeit slim - other menu offerings don't disappoint either, like the incredible meatballs / meatball grinder and the variety of salads and drinks that you can grab.
If you're looking for the best made to order NY or Sicilian style pizza in town, this is the place. If you're looking for the best slice in town, you won't be disappointed (also it's huge) - but I will at least hear augments on the slices 🍕.
My go-to: NY style Spicy Pig
Thanks for bringing fantastic pizza to our corner of...
