Here are some easy fixes to make creature comforts comfortable.
We were super excited about Creature Comforts before it's opening. The food is as good as any coffee shop and the service is fine. I'm writing about the lack of comfort at creature comforts.
The biggest downside at Creature Comforts is the off brand decor inside. The metal stools with no back support, no low chair seating, wooden seating along the perimeter and no real back support makes this an oddly uncomfortable place to meet up, converse, or get some writing done. It's also not comfortable for older people, pregnant women, or anyone who enjoys being comfortable while sitting somewhere.
When it comes to creature comforts, I love soft sofas, comfy chairs, and lots of pillows. I've never met anyone that thought; hey, want to get really comfy and then offer wooden slats or metal stools to achieve that goal.
One last note, during the summer the place is like a sauna up front with all the glass facing south. Some pull up/down shades that can lower the temp and minimize the sun's glare would be fantastic and/or the addition of some hanging plants inside and out to break the sun's intensity.
For now, I'll keep going to the Laughing Goat or Süti & Co. until Creature Comforts delivers a comfortable...
Read moreWow! I stopped by Creature Comforts Cafe for an afternoon coffee, and I absolutely loved everything about it - from the interior to the taste of the drinks! Everything was cute and perfect.
First of all, this is a no tipping café, which means they pay their workers a living wage and set their prices to do so. I absolutely think more establishment should follow suit.
I ordered an iced salted honey latte and my partner had an iced sweet Ube latte. A lot of their drinks feature Asian flavors, for example they have a miso hot chocolate, five spice latte, black sesame latte - you get the picture. They also have a whole section dedicated to flavored matcha! I was happy to see they have a wide variety of caffeinated and non-caffeinated drinks. Nondairy and alternative milks are available.
I didn't try the food, but the menu looked amazing! They have a variety of sweet and savory milk bread toasts and sandwich paninis. There is an option to sub in gluten free and vegan bread. They have a mimosa on the menu so you could come here for a little breakfast, coffee, and a cocktail if you wanted. They also serve wine and beer.
I can't wait to come back and support Creature Comforts! Such a beautiful community oriented, yummy...
Read moreI asked the owner if I could move a tabe closer to an outlet as my laptop was low on battery. I was being extremely polite as most people would simply move the table without asking. To ask is more of a courtesy and the correct response is yeah sure no problem. Its like asking someone if you could use the bathroom. You’re not supposed to say no. Well, the owner told me no. I don’t understand what the big deal is and this really put me off. Honestly, this review is a long time coming. I’ve been frequenting this location for several months now and from the beginning the seating arrangement has been just very frustratingly bizzare. Most of the tables and chairs are knee height and just comically unusable. Most people in Boulder are either college students or young professionals who work mostly on their laptop. Why then would this cafe, in the center of town, be so antithetical to this type of seating? Its a real shame that the owner is so stubborn as I wanted to...
