Had high expectations, or rather was just excited to visit Boxcar since I had been recommended to it by a Friend. I went and did my thing, ordered a coffee with honey and paid- coffee came plain. No biggie tbh I just went to the pick up area and asked where the honey is, so I can put it myself. The young Caucasian women who was servicing the area chose to ignore me, honestly just I brushed it off because it is a pretty stressful job, and I’ve been on the other side. So I waited a few minutes until it she had a moment or that someone else might be available. I asked her again and this chick literally went to her supervisor or manager- the guy pretty much told me no we are out of honey. That is also fine lol, the problem is, another older women who was hanging out by me asked the Same. Exact. Question. Supervisor, or whoever he was, ran to the back and boom two bottles of honey. I’ve lived in Boulder long enough to understand that this place is mid and full of people with prejudice. I should note that I am a brown women, and this isn’t the first time I’ve been in an experience like this. At that point I just left, it wasn’t worth pointing out their rude behavior. Anyways yall sucked, I highly recommend some racial sensitivity training for your employees or idk. I don’t recommend nor do I respect the business from this point on. Thanks for the reminder that Boulder is still very conservative and...
Read moreThe coffee is good 99% of the time. Today, my latte was unusually lukewarm. I stood in line for over 15 minutes while the guy running the till chatted up everyone extensively and performed chores. There were four people ahead of me and it took over 15 minutes to get through them. Line out the door by the time I got to the counter and guy running the till takes time out to fill bags of coffee in-between customers while baristas don’t have a lot to do. Serving the customers should be the priority. Not filling bags with coffee beans. Ozo is equally as good as Boxcar and probably a better option. They take much better care of customers.
Update. I went back for that complimentary coffee. I appreciated that. What I didn’t appreciate was being verbally attacked by the short bald guy when I pointed to the pastry that I wanted. Same guy that I complained about before. They recently changed the layout of the POS and there is no glass in between the pastries and customers. I do not appreciate being attacked for ordering a pastry. Guy needs better self awareness and Boxcar could design the customer flow and POS better. They should add glass there if it they don’t want customers pointing to the pastry they’d like. Next time, I’ll just walk on by to the next coffee shop with Kaladi Brothers coffee, which I like...
Read moreBoxcar is officially the BEST ROASTERS in colorado to us, and I must know since I have tried almost all of them by now. We stopped by today for the first time, and we were greeted by such amazing and the friendliest staff. After asking a few questions, I ordered a latte with the Stella blend beans, and wowww I loved it so much after the first sib my husband immediately purchased a bag of beans for home use. The espresso tasted exactly how they described it, and it was very delicious with chocolat and caramel notes, and it was very smooth with no after taste what so ever and thats the best kind in my opinion. Most places describe the flavors, but I can never taste any of them, and I end up with acidic after taste or bitter but not here. We loved Boxcar so much that I'm willing to drive the 2 hour round trip just to pick up a latte. I hope they open up a place a bit closer to south Denver so I can stop by regularly. Thank...
