My husband and I discovered Pizzeria Locale a few years ago. Being from Miami we stumbled upon it as we explored Boulder on a May afternoon. And now almost every rime we are back in Colorado we make a side trip to Pizzeria Locale. It can get busy, so I always make a reservation via their website. During warmer weather they have outdoor seating and you see people hanging out with their dogs. It is very relaxed ans casual. They have a nice little bar area when you first walk in. The actual seating area is not large, which is why you might want to make a reservation. In the center is a huge wood burning pizza oven. You can watch your oizza being made right there. We have always experienced great service. We happened to be there this past Sunday for National Pizza Day (2/9/20). They offer a full menu of appetizers, salads, and a few limited entrees and of course Pizza. The menu changes seasonally which I appreciate. However, there are some items that are a constant. For this trip to start we ordered the arancini, fried butternut squash dusted with parmesean and served like french fries with aioli, and the burrata with figs. The appetizers were amazing. The arancini - the way the rice and cheese melt in your mouth as you bite in to the crispy outer layer is truly satisfying, it will be hard to only want to eat 2! The butternut squash were also a good option. The dusting of parmesan on top really does elevate the tase. I love burrata, so I will always order it. The burrata was served over arugula with figs, rustic bread and a dressing that had a hint of chili oil. We ate the burrata with the figs and arugula on the toasted bread wedges, we also ate it without - either way is a treat. Since we had already indulged in 3 appetizers we shared a pizza. The pizzas are small enough for individuals to have their own. We shared the Diavola. San Marzano tomato sauce, cheese, basil, pepperoni, and another spicy salami make up the Diavola. It is finished with a drizzle of chili o il. The dough was just crispy enough, and the flavors all married well together. I can't...

Her Italian was on point, very authentic haha Her service was worth the tip, very chill, made the experience honestly. We had the Arancini which my husband enjoyed. Even our baby liked it. Note would be maybe a bit more mozzarella would bring it together more. 7/10 The Caeser salad with chicken was AMAZING!! The chicken was moist and flavorful, the dressing was nothing like the bottles or other restaurants, completely authentic. Salad was crisp, fresh and perfectly picked to balance the flavor. The lemon on top just put the whole dish together. 10/10 definitely will be craving soon. We tried the Carciofi E Prosciutto, great if you like tangy vinegary pizza. It was very good for what it was. Not our thing but not bad. Kenzie sent it back with no problem, didn't even make a small deal out of it. Now, the Margarita Pizza, I am already wanting more. If you're not sure what to get, you can't go wrong with it. It was so authentic. The wood fired flavor of the crust, the fresh mozzarella, the perfect marinara, fresh basil, it was just perfect. Extremely delicious. We're not even mad at the price, it was that good. 10/10 We finished off with the Tiramisu because of how good and authentic the rest of the food was and we were not disappointed. Fluffy cream, real espresso, quality Coco powder, my only note would be that the hazelnut is good but not exactly authentic. I did enjoy but I would also like a real tiramisu without the hazelnut cream. 9/10 My husband also enjoyed the Fata Verde. Good amount of alcohol for the price and only needed one drink. 7/10 Overall, I would definitely recommend this restaurant, dine in especially to get the full experience. Food is not cheap but definitely worth the price. You can't get more authentic than this and we have high standards....
Read moreI’m baffled by the many 5 stars awarded this restauran, because our group of 4 unanimously declared it some of worst food we’ve eaten in a long time. From pizza to lasagna, everything was grossly oversalted to the point of being inedible How go you oversalted lasagna, for cramminy sake?) Granted, cheese can be salty, but the food here tasted like it had been soaked in the Dead Sea. Which it may well have been, considering the soggy, limp crust underlying the toppings. First sign of trouble came when the pizza arrived unsliced. That, combined with menu descriptions in Italian spoke of affectation, and I’m always wary of pretentious, affectatious restaurants, be they genuine five star establishments or pizza joints. If you somehow can get past the salt content - we couldn’t, and left our entrees unfinished, you’ll discover skimpy toppings and a truly mediocre tomato sauce, all on the aforementioned flabby crust. Ugh.
On the plus side, wonderful, cheerful and attentive service and a very nice atmosphere. We sat at a communal table and struck up a conversation with a family of 5 from California (who were as unimpressed with the fare as we were) and that saved a terrible meal from being an extremely unpleasant experience. Of course, had we encountered unpleasant dining neighbors ....
A lot of these reviews claim that this is “ the best pizza in Boulder”. If accurate, I pity Boulder residents with a craving for good pizza.
So: grossly oversalted, a pathetic excuse for crust, overpriced for what is gloriously promised and what appears...
