Their gyro and french fry platter is my new favorite food--no exaggeration. Fresh lettuce and tomatoes topped with sharp feta made a bed for a huge serving of fries and the best gyro meat I've ever had. It had a distinct lamb taste, which most gyro doesn't but I love, and was cooked to be tender with nice burnt ends and there were four or five handfuls-worth of meat. All of that was topped with a generous drizzle of tzatziki sauce and their homemade hot sauce, which may be a Libyan harissa. The sauces soaked the fries, accented the meat, and dripped down to dress the salad. Incredible deliciousness.
Besides that platter the service was fantastic. The guys working the counter are consistently friendly and helpful and I'm pretty sure it's a family joint. On a couple occasions, I've given them a call at noon to order a meal at precisely 2:15, to pick up in my 20 minute break between classes, and they've accommodated that well.
And I also adore the market. I spent some time in North Africa and the Deli stocks a lot of the regional brands that were staples of my stay in a few different countries. They carry an overwhelming selection of olive oils and a much more manageable--in terms of decision making and price--selection of spices.
Obviously, I can't recommend this place...
Read moreHave been eating here since I was little -- The prices have always been crazy affordable for us, as we're on a very tight budget. It's one of our go-to's, but funny enough, even though it's the best price, it's the best Gyro in Boulder, PERIOD. I've tried SO many different places when this place isn't open (literally the only downside to this place, that it closes at 6, I would totally eat here all day if I could LOL) that serve Gyro, and none can even remotely compare. The portions are very generous (the gyro are always chock-full of utterly delicious lamb/beef), and very filling. A large sandwich, fries, and a large drink for around $10 is a HUGE steal in Boulder. Big reason why I support this place so much.
It's actually my go-to when I'm not feeling very well stomach-wise and need something more 'homemade'.
I love the store as well. Lots of really cool, unique items that you can't find in many other stores. (Try the canned 'brined cucumbers' (aka pickles), they're really unique if you like salty flavors.) Their olive selection is also fantastic.
Also -- their Falafel is really delicious! Homemade -- I've literally watched them make the falafel dough by hand and scoop it into the...
Read moreBeing a vegetarian, I love a good falafel. Every time a new place opens up that makes falafel, I check it out. From my first-time dining at The Mediterranean Market and Deli in 2013 to this day, I can say their falafel is the best in Boulder County. I like that it is a family owned and operated business. Salem and his two sons do the cooking and his daughter Noor works the front-end of the Deli when she is there. They take pride in preparing their food… Fresh, Homemade, Authentic Mediterranean and Middle Eastern cuisine. I find that their menu prices are the lowest in town. You get a lot for your money… and I never leave there hungry! Also, they offer many vegetarian options like Baba Ganouj, Hummus, Tabouli, Stuffed Grape Leaves, Spanakopita, and much more. The Veggie Combo platter is the best! The market side of the Deli offers specialty goods from different countries around the Mediterranean region and the Middle East. If you have a craving for authentic Mediterranean/Middle Eastern cuisine then this is the place to eat. I highly recommend the Mediterranean Market and...
