The Outback is Boulders most diviest of dive bars...and I love dive bars. I prefer them to the more posh of Boulders options. I've lived a few blocks from the Outback for 6 years, and it is without a doubt where I receive the worst service of anywhere in Boulder, period. I'm leaving this review from an anonymous account b/c I don't want them to know my face and most likely retaliate by serving me even less. I will note, that I've seen some new bartenders recently...so maybe they're headed in a better direction, but, I need to write this review to get this off my chest. For the better part of the last couple years, I'd say I've had to wait an extraneous amount of time to be served. And when I am, it always makes me feel bad :( The attitude of the women serving me here has been awful, with a lot of attitude and condescension. I'm assuming this is not a good place to work, b/c the vibe seems to carry through several of the bartenders. It is obvious that I am interrupting there day by trying to order and drink...and give them my money. I've stood at an almost empty bar, and had the bartenders walk by back-in-forth in front of me for 10 minutes sooooo many times. I've walked away from the bar at least twice before and decided just to not drink while I'm here. I usually only come here to play pool with friends when the Bluff Streets table are full, and at this point its just not worth the stress of ordering a drink. My girlfriend has had the same experience recently, so It doesn't appear to be a sexist thing. I usually only leave reviews when service is stellar b/c not enough people do that! But, I finally needed to get this one out. I consider myself to be hyper-courteous customer b/c I've been in the industry and know the stress that can come with it. I don't think this is anything personal to me.
Guys, I'll still come back and maybe some of the new bartenders will bring a better vibe, but please pleaaase pay attention to your customers and make a point to serve them in some sort of appropriate time and don't make them feel bad. Don't make us feel bad. We just want to give you our money and unwind from whatever's happening in our life.
Again, this might be a review for service past. If I see a change in the coming year I will be the first one to post...

Read moreOutback seems to go through phases. Overall it's a pretty standard divey-ish bar (it's slightly too costly and lacking some ambiance you might get in other dive establishments). The beer is clean and they seem to be clearing the lines for the taps well these days, whereas they may have fallen down a bit in the past. They're clean and the food seems to have improved as well. The other night over some beers a buddy got a burger and fries and was satiated by the burger, but the fries were pretty damn tasty. They do have free popcorn that isn't horrible and is a nice touch as free bar snacks have fallen out of style. It does have pretty decent pool tables, but I'd recommend bringing your own cue (as with most establishments) I think they have around 8 tables and hold tournaments weekly I believe. The service has always been friendly and as prompt as possible with how busy it can get on the weekends. They have quite the variety of performers on their karaoke nights, and I must admit to being both entertained and horrified (sometimes both at once!). HH wasn't spectacular, but the pricing isn't over the top anyways ($5 for most craft beers) and they have a good selection. They do a good job of keeping local beer and booze flowing. I would definitely recommend checking them out if...
