We stopped at El Zarape on our way North. I wasn't expecting much, but was pleasantly surprised to hear almost no English being spoken by the staff. That's usually a good sign. Sure enough, the place was quite nice, and the food was good. My wife got a vegetarian dish, which was like fajitas minus the meat. I got Huevos Rancheros, from the lunch menu. She got two big platters of food, which proved to be too much for her to handle (I graciously agreed to help her out). My food was tasty and just enough. It happened to be my lovely bride's birthday today, so I caught the server's eye and set my wife up for an ambush - Sapo verde a ti..., much to her chagrin, haha! Surprisingly tasty food. Forgo the flour tortillas, Gringos, ask for corn tortillas, they're much better.

Just take all of my money! I’ve dined in, i’ve taken out! Still good either way! I barely wanna eat out anywhere else in BG! lol I love mexican food, and have a high expectation on the quality of the food, and this is the best authentic mexican food in BG, hands down! So let me tell you what I get lol esp if you are new here and love enchiladas like i do, you want to order the Enchiladas Tapatias ($12), with Verde Sauce on top (instead of red sauce, depending on which one you prefer), and the salad to the side, and you’re set for a GOODT meal! Like if this was helpful!

Ordered two steak tacos cost $8 greenbacks! Steak was not steak cut up like Chipotle,HotHead or of course at home. It was more akin to freezer burnt JTM's you found in mamaw's old fridge in the garage next to the caddy. Super bland chips and ultra watery salsa. The most Caucasian (Mexican) joint within 126 miles prolly. Wife loves Mexican food nothing there pleased her either. Should have just handed a stranger $40 and said have a blessed one, would have been way more satisfying to do so than to eat there.

Stopped at El Zarape Bowling Green (OH) during our trek to Detroit, MI and it was an unexpectedly delicious decision. The environment is bright, lively and welcoming. The menu is extensive and making a selection proved to be challenging. It all looked tempting and the smells wafting out of the kitchen made our mouths water. More authentic Mexican dishes than expected and prepared with fresh ingredients that were served by a friendly staff.

Our meal selections were a Carnitas Dinner ($15), Enchiladas Suizas ($14) and two soft drinks. Before a generous tip, our bill cashed out at $38.12. The carnitas was ridiculously tender and melted in the mouth. Sides of rice, beans and salad were generously sized and the flour tortillas were hot and fresh. Enchiladas were fork tender and flavored perfectly. Sides included rice and beans. The cheese-based enchiladas were topped with carnitas morsels and covered in more cheese and salsa verde. Delicious! My dining partner said it was too much cheese. Once I got done laughing at him, I told him “there is no such thing as too much cheese.”

Whether your searching for a common taste of Mexico or something more authentic, we highly recommend a stop...

I have been here several times over the past couple of years. The service has always been very fast getting initial drink orders. Margaritas and beer are as expected with many great options. Chips are fresh and the salsa has great consistency and flavor. I really enjoy the carnitas dinner, served with the pork still in chunks that easy break apart when placed in a taco shell. The salad, rice and beans served with the carnitas dinner were all delicious. Everything else I've seen ordered (burritos, fajitas, enchiladas and chicken dishes) have looked great as well. This location is close to I-75 making it a good location for stopping at while traveling. It is really easy to get to from the highway. It is also easy to find while driving down the road. There is a large sign along the road. Parking outside has not been an issue. The restaurant is located at the end of a strip mall and we were able to find a spot for a truck and trailer during lunchtime on a Thursday. This restaurant is has always looked clean while visiting. Restrooms have been clean at every visit. This place will be on my list of places I plan on...

Came in with a big group of people, In which I understand, it’s a lot for the staff. However, when you spend money at a place, you deserve quality as the same person who only has two at their party.

The waitress was great. He helped out every time we needed something. However, The other waitress, who is also helping us since our party was huge Was completely disrespectful and rude. I told him my order was messed up and he said you have to pay extra if I wanted it remade. And every time anyone asked for him to do something, he complain and yelled across the restaurant, which was embarrassing.

Then when we got to pay, the gentleman was extremely rude and disrespectful because we had a coupon and he wouldn’t let us use it. He called us liar, and didn’t give us the right in which I called him out on it and he called me a liar again.

I don’t usually make comments like this, but I will not be going back to this place because of the service. We were very excited to be there, But it seemed to be that they didn’t...
