Glorious food. excellent service, modest prices. First a shout out to Sisi, our server. Sisi's suggestions and great service made for a memorable meal. Thank you, Sisi. Started with the fantastic Lentil Soup, a rich, thick soup which was made with red lentils and warm spices (my guess is cumin, ginger, coriander.) I got a cup, should have gotten a bowl. The Greek salad had bits of chopped fresh mint and a lovely, tart dressing. One of my companions had the Chicken Galaba, which is strips of chicken breast, zucchini, mushrooms, carrots, in richly seasoned tomato sauce. The sauce was flavorful, but not much heat. This is a substantial amount of food, so lunch the next day. My other companion had a Holy Land Falafel and was delighted and also had leftovers. This restaurant is in a strip mall, so plenty of parking and curb cuts to make life easy for someone in a walker or pushing a stroller. I seldom mention decor, but the feature wall at Yala Kol needs to be highlighted. A very skilled mason has produced detailed and elaborate stone work. I thought it was elegant and a...

Sadly, the food was mediocre at best. I was REALLY hungry and so I forced down my stuffed grape leaves with no sauce (usually Mediterranean places serve these with either lemon or tomato sauce) without complaint, but they tasted like what they were: something premade hours or days ago, then microwaved when I came in. They were chewy in the wrong way and the meat and rice inside were dry.
The pictures on the website were misleading. For the prices on the menu I looked at, I was expecting a real Mediterranean restaurant. This was more of a carryout with a few tables.
It's a shame because again, the restaurant was very clean and the person who took my order was very kind.
My thoughts are that going forward, they need to make the things like stuffed grape leaves fresh, rather than having them sit around all day, dry out, then dry out more in the microwave.
I don't live here, so I won't be back, but I really hope this business makes the changes it needs to in order to be better for...
Read moreA Hidden Gem in Bowling Green! I've been on a business trip for weeks, struggling to find real, authentic food – not the typical processed, fast-food options. Finally, I stumbled upon this place, and wow, what a game-changer! This is one of only two spots I've found with genuinely homemade and authentic dishes. The lentil soup? Absolutely wow-worthy! Full of flavor, warmth, and comfort. The chicken, rice, hummus, lentil soup and salad were equally impressive – fresh, perfectly seasoned, and all for under $15! You truly can’t beat the quality or the price. And the owner was so generous and welcoming .. he even gave me 2 Falafel to try for Free. It was the best one i’ve had in my life. This place is a must-try, and I’m confident you’ll become a regular, just like I will....
