This place by far, hands down, drop the mic, is the best place to get breakfast with flavors that will blow your mind away in Bowling Green, OH. There is nothing close. The Chef obviously has refined skills combining spices, presenting elements of the dish, and creativity for meal ideals. Every time I eat there, I feel like I have traveled to another state where food is a mecca for foodies. I had the breakfast chorizo burrito first and I felt a calmness flowing through my body of finally real food in BG, next was the phoenix sunrise with each and every bite I said, "oh my God" because the flavors just kept surfacing , then came the breakfast croissant true perfection crunchy outside, puffy soft inside and wonderful taste of butter. The fillings did not disappoint with Belleville Brothers bacon and fluffy scrambled eggs. I am still working down the menu with anticipation of greatness expressed in each dish.
If Flatlands coffee was sold there, then I would say I found Heaven on earth.
One year later, I decided to try enjoying some beer and food. I regret my experience was ruined by the service. I sat at the bar which may have been a mistake because it was obvious the bartenders where just college kids not worried about service. They didn't come up to you when your class was empty within reason and one of the bartenders walked with his head down, back turned to bar, and left the bar unattended. Then I ordered a sandwich and fries. There were no condiment holders at the bar so I asked for ketchup for the fries. This was too much of a request, I guess. I asked three times for ketchup during my meal. I was pretty much finished before I had to raise my voice and ask for some ketchup. The manager did try to make things right but my...

The menu is limited, which is just fine, but it was lacking in areas and was more "hipster". While that is fine, it may push people away.
Our party had Pulled Pork Sandwiches and Three Cheese Grilled Cheese. While the pulled pork was 'good', it was a bit dry and lacking that smoked flavor a good pulled pork will have. It 100% needed 'something' to it.
The fries, I THINK are made on site, and looked burned. They even had a burnt flavor. The chips that came with the Grilled Cheese were so brown and were very burnt tasting we didn't eat them.
As for the beers. Not bad. We got a sampler (2 IPAs, an Amber, and a Wheat). The Amber (Rusty Cage) was very 'thin' in flavor, but did pair well with the Pulled Pork. The Wheat beer (Tall Boy) was an American Wheat, which means it's not a hazy beer, and lacks that German Hefeweizen banana/clove that says 'drink more'. Again, good, but not "GOTTA HAVE MORE OF THAT". The Intersteller IPA was decent, a good bite of hops as it should be. The other was "Pink" something or other, and it too had that bite of hops, and a good aroma, but obviously missing what makes a GREAT IPA (CASCADE!!!!).
One thing I really liked about the place was the student friendly atmosphere. The coffee shop that is also housed there has areas where students can sit and open up their laptops and study with a coffee, coke, or a beer if they choose. The staff was great. We just felt that the food and beers could be better. Since our son is going there for school, we'll give it another try, it is always possible we hit it...
Read moreWhile the atmosphere is beautiful, the food and coffee were mediocre. We were really excited to try out Bowling Green's newest addition, but left a little underwhelmed. We waited entirely too long to order, because they only have one cash register. Given the size of the place, they may want to reconsider only having one station or hire waitstaff. The cost was around $30 for two coffees and two breakfast sandwiches, that while presented nicely, were not extraordinarily tasty for $9 each. I don't need a lot of food, but it should have something that makes it stand out from other restaurants. A simple special ingredient could be that one thing that takes a $5 breakfast sandwich to a $9 sandwich. I love the idea of fancy toast, but if I am buying something that is that easy to make at home...it better have flavors that make it unusual. I appreciate the fact they buy from local businesses...but that selling point will only get one so far and while the presentation was nice, a business can't rely on that alone either.Looking forward to trying the beer. Maybe that will change my mind, as I love a good beer. I am am rooting for them; Bowling Green needs more choices. I give them a "C", but there is a lot of potential and it's still pretty early in the game for Juniper! Good luck! :)
Addendum: Went back for the beer! Well worth it!!! Solid beer. I tried a stout and had a sip of an IPA. I generally don't like IPA's but I was won over by this one! Still need to try the evening food fare...and when I do, I will likely get one of their tasty beers! Highly...
