Open for Breakfast! Call of the Canyon is a goldmine of originality! I have always loved the Southwestern theme - beautiful framed photographs, long-horn skulls, pottery & vintage novels adorn the walls! 🌵 And the saloon doors leading to the restrooms and back entrance are just so charming! The Canyon has #cozy window seats, booths for #besties, tables for #two or large #parties! I love the names the of menu items, too - they really make you feel like you're taking a Cool Pause on the Trail. 🌵 Recent menu additions are outstanding! BBQ Pork Mac & Cheese?! Yes, please! Craving a bowl of delicious soup? 🌵 Try the Red Rock Chili! Homemade with red beans & beef, served with the Canyon's famous corn muffins! Or try the Veggie Chili - it's the only one in town with broccoli. You will LOVE it!! #healthy Looking to fill up with a sandwich? 🌵 The Trailblazer is where it's at! Smoked turkey, cream cheese & slaw on pumpernickel bread makes for an amazing favorite! For a wild flavor combination try it with a side of dill-rich potato salad! Yum!! Keeping it light & fresh? 🌵 The Fall Apple Salad is a perfect choice for any #season! With crisp apples, juicy grapes, fresh walnuts & bleu cheese crumbles - it's an instant winner for your tastebuds! And there are lots of vegetarian options! 🌵 The Canyon's Casa Burrito is a classic! With refried beans & cheese you can modify with all your favorite burrito fixin's - add jalapenos or a side of rice and then bust out that knife and fork! 🍴 Mi casa will fill you up! Need a quick pick-me-up? 🌵 Grab a cup of coffee and a famous home-made sweet treat! Cakes, pies, tarts & cookies! There's a slice for any sweet-tooth here!!

This was my first visit to Call of the Canyon, which I tried out with my daughter on a visit to nearby BGSU. 11:30 on a Saturday and it wasn't too busy, Food was excellent. My daughter devoured her Canyon burrito, which is high praise. I have sensitivity to gluten, and I appreciated that there were a lot of GF options on the menu. The Fajita Mac and Cheese with gluten free penne was excellent. Cheddar cheese on top with a thick white sauce underneath is a great combination. The atmosphere and service was good. It's not a fancy restaurant, but is functional and clean - perfect for a college town. Service was a bit leisurely, with the primary factor being the food preparation taking a bit longer than I expected. We definitely would visit this restaurant again and recommend it as a great option over fast food or a pizza joint.

I am in town for a couple of days, and as a HUGE Zane Grey fan, I had to try it. While I would have liked a bigger showing of Zane Grey memorabilia, I was definitely not disappointed. The service was fast and friendly (I was the only one there, so I felt a little odd), and the food was great. I loved the salsa (and I have lived in Texas for more than five years, so I think I have a level of expertise). I could see the pie case the whole time I was eating, and I couldn't resist trying some. The sandwich I got was pretty big, though, so I got it to go. Love it. Very tasty. If I get a chance to return to Bowling Green, I will definitely keep Call of the Canyon in mind. Now excuse me while I re-read the book.

We waited over 15 minutes for menus, an hour for our food and although we were a group of only 3 they apparently lost my order for Mac and cheese. While this kind of thing happens the waitress told us she would check on my order when she brought the other two items out but another 10+ minutes passed and we were told nothing. She finally said she would go check again and then told us my order was lost. I don't understand how she didn't realize it was lost the first time she said she would check. She was very kind and apologetic and offered a free item but by that point the other two people I was with had finished eating already. We accepted an order of pretzel sticks and asked for the bill. It took another 20ish minutes to get the bill and we just left without the pretzel sticks. The most frustrating part was that a table who ordered after us got my exact same order of mac and cheese right after I was told they didn't have time to make my order anymore. We also overheard an awkward argument between our waitress and the kitchen staff about the volume of the music and the table next to us also had issues with their order. I can't comment on the food other than the store bought chips I stole off my husband's plate because I didn't get to try any other food. They at least didn't charge us for the food we didn't get. Maybe we just came on an off night but don't think we'll...
