Main Street Ace Hardware — Local services in Bowling Green

One of several business' owned by the Kraft family of Bowling Green. This hardware store is a throw-back to the days when customer service and satisfaction was the absolute first priority for companies. The people working at the BG ACE are welcoming, friendly, and will eager to help. It is a rare thing to ask about any obscure need that the folks here don't know the aisle to look for it in.

What is more, shopping here is fun. The store layout twists and turns through the ancient building and leaves you smiling. Poking through the racks of merchandise is enjoyable and even relaxing. You get ideas of things to do just looking through things.

Also, there are always sales and clearance racks. Most any warm day of the year there are carts and tables outside to draw you into the store. More than a few times I've picked-up handy items for pennies just by coming through the store.

The ACE also has creations by store employees, made from hardware in the store itself. These items include Steam Punk style lights, chess boards and other artistic creations and it is worth passing through just to see those alone.

Prices are entirely fair. You might save a few cents going to a national chain but you won't enjoy service or feel satisfied as you will coming here. The bottom line is that this is a well run and fun place to shop, and the people there deserve...

I've never been so disappointed in my local Ace store. They are suppose to have free delivery for Rewards customers but from what the girl at the counter said they don't even check the stuff that comes in to see if it is delivery or pick up. I don't know how true this is though because their customer care person said that the manager just had to call to schedule the delivery when I called to check the status. But the counter girl said they couldn't deliver because their delivery guy was on vacation. If you aren't going to be up front and honest then at least get your story straight. Do you really not have someone cover for a person on vacation? Why couldn't you call and say our driver is on vacation do you want to pick up your order or wait til the driver gets back from vacation? Because a signature was required I had to waste most of the day waiting for something that BG Ace never intended to deliver...such a waste of my time..The stupidest part about this is that I was bummed I had to go get it but I wasn't upset about it until the counter girl tried to justify the stores mistake. I should have asked to speak to the manager but her attitude took me so off guard that I didn't think of that til I was out of the store and the way I feel right now I don't ever want to go...

Previously I've received nice customer service at this location. Today I went to have a key copy made, as I have several times before for my pet sitting business. Today the elderly worker behind the counter looked at my key and blatantly said "I ain't cutting it." Thanks for the unintelligent reply and unnecessary rudeness. He wouldn't cut it because it says do not copy on the back. I explained my business and how I've had no problem making key copies before for my clients at this location. The man rolled his eyes at me and didn't respond, just stared at me. I walked out and will have to take my regular...
