Came through drive through about 3:30AM and started to order 4 different shooters. I said the first one (BBQ) and started to say the second one and was cut off with a question of if I wanted the 3 shooter special. I said no I don't want fries just 4 shooters. I again said BBQ then started to say chipotle and was cut off again asking did u say BBQ. I said yes then I want chipotle, frisco. Then I was cut off again and employee repeated the three I had ordered and he asked if that was all. I said then NO I wanted 4 the three he had repeated and the Cajun. He asked me again if that was all I told him I wanted a strawberry shake. He told me the price and told me to pull around. I was the only car in drive through then one car pulled up behind me total of two cars (myself and the car behind me). He then ask for me to park up front and they would bring it out to me. I waited and the car behind me was also pulled up front and parked beside me. I waited about 15 min. Then he brought my food. I checked my bag and only had 3 burgers. I walk into the establishment and the kitchen was extremely filthy. No one was inside except for 3 employees (no customers). I told the guy (Kevin) that I had ordered 4 burgers but only received 3. I had to wait 15 min. and my burgers were cold to the touch. If I pay for the forth one I want all four made fresh or I wanted my money back. He went to another employee (I think he said his name was Mark) and told him my complaint I heard his reply as he got what he paid for. I stopped their convo and said yes I got the food I paid for but what I got wasn't good enough quality wise and I didn't get what I asked for. He said it wouldn't take but a couple of min. to make the one burger I was missing. I told him that the burgers I got was cold and definitely wouldn't be worth eating after waking for him to cook another one so I wanted all four made again or my money back to the 4 burgers. He said there wasn't a manager there until about 7AM so he could refund my money I said well I needed him to fix all four burgers over he said he wasn't going to do that because I got what I paid for. So I told him I wanted my money back he said I wasn't getting neither. The Kevin guy started to talk and the mark guy told him to shut up and let him handle it then they both started arguing with each other behind the counter. While continuing to tell me that I wasn't getting my money back nor was he making all four burgers again. I told him that I had to repeat my order 3-4 times there shouldn't be a reason not to hear me correctly. He told me he was sorry the speaker is hard to hear out of. I told him that's why the order should have been repeated at the window then. I said I'm not even mention I waited 15 min. For my food. The employee got loud with me and started swirling he head around and said well they have been really busy. I told him that his dining room was empty and I was the only car in drive thru until about 3-4 min later when the second car pulled up and the looks of the kitchen was horrible so what kind of busy are u talking about. I will be back for my money in the morning. Then the employees said THATS FINE while swirling their heads. Still arguing with each other on who was going to take care of my complaint. I walked out and forgot my receipt. I went back in and asked for my receipt back and it was thrown across the counter at me. I told them I will make sure the manager knew that they threw stuff at me after I paid for my pathetic food. The employees both started yelling and I got told not to ever come back to that store again and they are calling the police on me! 1st the police don't scare me because I didn't do anything but I did get stuff thrown at me for no reason so in their eyes that assault. 2nd thing I don't want to come back but will to get my money. I politely let them know on my way out that I would let there manager know how I was treated because I graduated high school with her and I know she won't have that from them at least I hope she wouldn't! Tammy if u are still working I...
Read moreMy husband and I stopped here around 2:30 on a Sunday afternoon for lunch. It was busier than is typical for that hour, but we have definitely seen Steak N Shake busier before - as we go all the time to various ones because our son enjoys it.
We first waited 5 minutes to be seated, even though there were multiple empty tables. It was as if no one on staff could be bothered to seat people, and there was no dedicated hostess.
We ordered quickly - each just getting a basic burger and fries - and then we waited 40 minutes for our food. We realized over this time that others who came in when we did were also waiting, and it seemed like orders were coming out one at a time and only every 10 minutes or so. There were tons of cooks in the back, so we can only assume focus was being given to the drive-thru. If not, then management needs to train staff on how to turn over orders.
It should not take this long for a basic burger and fries. We didn't say a word and just ate when the food came and planned to leave, but then the waitress (who had not been overly attentive or friendly) said sorry for the wait. I commented that it was fine, but it should never take that long for a burger and fries. She replied, "that's just how it goes when we're busy."
The kicker was when my husband went to pay. For whatever reason (we suspect our waitress must have said something negative about us), she looked at my husband and then PURPOSEFULLY asked the person in line behind him to step up and took her payment. He was shocked, and it happened right as I was returning from the bathroom. I commented to him (where the cashier could hear) that I thought he had been next in line. He said yes and that he didn't know what was going on, and the cashier just stared at us and didn't say a word to us or make eye contact as we paid.
In hindsight, I should have gone to the manager on duty (though he was barely 18 and I'm not sure how much authority he may have had) and expressed that we shouldn't have to pay when we were treated so rudely after waiting 40 minutes for a sub-par burger and fries.
We love Steak N Shake, but we've never had such a poor experience at one and thus will never return to this specific location. We realize it's not fine dining, but when we're giving a business our money we do expect to at least receive decent service and be treated...
Read moreI kind of feel guilty NOT warning everyone what the Steak 'n Shake in Bowling Green is like. Where do I start? Well, minors by federal law are not allowed to work over 8 hours in a day and are required a 30 minute break every 5 hours. I worked for a few months as a minor and was worked 13-15 hour shifts, sometimes until 5 or 6 in the morning until my feet were bleeding. There were cockroaches and puddles of pee in the bathrooms, I can count on one hand people who used gloves or washed their hands when handling food. One manager stole my credit tips, clocked me out a few times while I was still working, and would manually enter into the computer I was on break when I never got one. All the employees except for three or four share joints out in the parking lot, (I don't care if they smoke, but I was doing their job while they were getting high), and two of the managers I know for sure used drugs several times while on the clock. Two different managers were groping each other in the office one time, and the shake guy just scoops out ice cream with his hands.
AND, they never replaced a broken part on the coffee maker, so I ended up with 2nd degree burns all over my hands. They didn't want to pay me Worker's Comp, so they put me to work handing out menus and handling cash. They also charged the medicines to my insurance instead of paying for it. They still owe me $70 something dollars in bandages, wraps, and medical tape. I also had to tell the District manager to change the broken part or I was filing a claim. Corporate office is disgusting and hateful, and when I told them about the cockroaches and unsanitary working conditions, they said they didn't believe me. They also stated they had ALL electronic logs of when I was clocked in and out, so they had to have known my manager was clocking me out early... yet when I brought it up, suddenly they have NO LOG.
Please don't eat at the Steak 'n Shake in Bowling Green,...
